The holiday tomorrow messed me up so I sent a bunch of orders on Friday

hoping for a Monday delivery. It worked.

I took a chance and put the milk grains into the goat milk yogurt I

The kefir grains only like to go in sweet milk. It's their food supply.

Yogurt already ate it.

Hoping the age of the milk isn't a problem for the grains. It smelled

Don't make a habit of it.

Please do. When they grow, divide into two jars and use the second jar for

all your experiments. That's way if something goes wrong...

Thanks again, sorry for so many questions, I just want to make sure I don't

Marilyn ..

Thanks for all the info. I didn't mean to say " yogurt " , I meant to

say milk, sometimes my fingers go faster than my head.

Got the milk grains and water grains going right away, tonight will

be 24 hrs., so I'll give 'em a fresh change.

Envelope on its way to you. Thank you so very much for your

kindness and assistance.

Peace.

Hi Betty,

Thanks for providing lots of advices and info regarding coconut water kefir. I

am going to try using milk grains as I do not have the water crystals. I can get

freshly cut young coconut for the price of USD 0.50 per fruit here. We just eat

the flesh by the scoops without any additional flavouring...it tastes heavenly.

Thanks again.

Oh no, do NOT let it go that long or it is doubtful that you could even drink

the stuff.

It is closer to 8 hours or when it starts to get a milky color. I would start

tasting it after 8 hours but, if I remember correctly 24 hours was even strong

so I would go from 8 to 12 hours. The longer it sets the higher the alcohol but

there is barely any with the shorter time. It does get fizzy the longer it sets.

Don't add the flesh. That is a whole different game there. I tried to find the

old list I used to be on and could not. It was a list that used fermented foods

and Young Coconut Kefir to help their children heal their gut for autism and

other problems. I found a group that is now on Donna's site

http://bedrokcommun ity.org/index. html

You would be able to get a ton of information about kefiring coconut water and

the meat there although they mostly use the Body Ecology Kefir starter culture

which can only be used so long before you have to use another packet unlike

water crystals. The end product is still a drink or food great for you.

Back when we were doing the diet I was using 9 coconuts a week for Evan's drink.

After awhile one runs out of ways to use the meat.lol.

I have not been checking here for awhile but there is no reason to not use the

milk grains in the coconut water if you do not have the water grains. I use

converted milk grains for years even when I was using water grains. Water grains

though are too hard to separate from the coconut milk so it is just easier to

use milk grains for that but that a whole different drink.

Thank you, Shirl. I've never made either kind of kefir, and just wondering

where would be the best place to start. Does one have to keep adding coconut

water or does it makes itself once started?

Hi Donnie,

I suggest you get yourself some milk kefir grains to start with. Once you get

into the swing of it, then you will have spare grains (the grains will grow in

quantity each day) to convert them to make coconut water kefir. Once converted,

the grains will not grow and may stop work one day, lol....and they can't be

used for milk kefir.

When you make coconut water kefir, you need fresh c.water every 24-36hrs for

each batch of c.w.kefir you make ie. after you strain the c.w.kefir, you add

fresh c.water to the grains to start a new batch.

Hope it helps,

Shirl

Thank you. I'm kinda trying to get my nerve up to give it a try. Are there any

detailed instructions on the site or group anywhere?
