Guest guest
Yesterday I had my one month checkup with my OS. He released me from his order to sleep flat on my back. I am not a back sleeper so this has been one of the hardest of his rules for me to follow. Last night I was so excited at the thoughts of finally getting to sleep on my side......but which one??? I have heard people say that it is best to sleep on the operated side. That was definitely NOT going to happen. Too uncomfortable. So quickly switched to the other side. After placing and adjusting a number of pillows around me, I found a comfortable spot, which lasted about 10 minutes. As I feel asleep, I kept putting my upper knee into an improper position. So I didn't dare to sleep in that position yet as I could feel it pulling in my hip joint. So after a month of 'dreaming' about finally sleeping in some position except on my back, I slept flat on my back again.......Disappointed and still weary..... Today I spend most of the day alone for the first time. had to go into work for a few hours today. He said he felt like a Dad leaving his child at home alone for the first time. He has taken my care very seriously. The surgeon was very pleased with my progress. Told me to take it at my own pace. It could be up to 6 months before I felt absolutely sure of my total recovery...
