Guest guest
we're in jacksonville, fl. there are a few homeopathic/naturopathic drs around here, but it would be a hard sell for him to go. and if he does, his family is not very supportive of that choice. they think i'm a quack for not taking meds and they think me suggesting this for hubby could be bad for his health b/c then he wouldn't be taking the " proper meds " to treat him. ugh. it's definitely an uphill battle. we have a dr appt with his family dr and i would like to be able to discuss all avenues of treatment. sorry if this is hard to read, i'm breastfeeding while trying to type. lol > >Hi, I've been a member of the group for a while and have enjoyed > >reading your advice. Guest guest
Yeah. His mother is coming w/ us to the dr appt. I called into work for him this morning (he works for his parents...family business) His mother told me to make a dr appt. Of course i was going to. But then she makes it instead. So I call the dr and find this out. He didn't get sleep last night, so I was going to try and get an appt this afternoon, so he could sleep later. She made the appt for 10AM. There was no way we would have made it time. I was still feeding Bella and hadn't even taken a shower, and wasn't waking up fast enough. I finally woke and he asked me to make it for later in the day. So I did. Then I called his mother to let her know. Before I can get the words out, she says she's coming over here to get him up. I finally am able to tell her that the appt has changed to this afternoon and the reason. I can tell she's mad at me, but she doesn't say anything about it. (Thank goodness, b/c I don't think I could have held MY tongue at that point) I love her, but sometimes, she makes me feel like an inadequate wife/mother. Am I over-reacting or does anyone else think there's something wrong with what happened this morning? > >> >Hi, I've been a member of the group for a while and have enjoyed > >> >reading your advice. Guest guest
And I can't say anything to upset my MIL, b/c she has MS and if she gets upset, it could cause a flair-up which may or may not be permanent. Guest guest
I certainly think there's something wrong with her making appts and such if you did not ask her to. I have a similar problem. Its difficult for parents to know their place when their children become adults. And this behavior can be encouraged by an adult child who doesn't mind his/her mother (or father) running their life. Its important to set boundaries in the relationship with parents and in laws. You want them to be involved in your life but not go so far as that their running it. They need to be there to give advice and because I'm a Christian I believe we should honor them but there needs to be balance and limits. My mother used to keep my oldest son when I worked. Often she would think he was getting sick and would take him to the doctor without first contacting me. Several times she made emergency rooms visits with my son that resulted in a major bill. She justified it by saying " I'll pay for it " . My husband finally had to step in and speak to her about it. He was close enough to her that he could get his point across lovingly whereas she sees me as her child and I couldn't effectively argue my point with her. Guest guest
Sheri, I have a legal question... I vaccinated my son at 3 1/2 months and 5 1/2 months (for his first 2 rounds of shots). In addition, he had the hep b vax at birth and 3 /12 months, which I dearly regret. I have now stopped all vaccinations and I called my doc to get his shot records, including manufacturer and lot numbers. I was told that he " would not furnish lot numbers " . Isn't this illegal? How can I obtain my sons full shot records? Don't I have a legal right to his medical records, including shot records with lot numbers? I really want to see exactly what he was given and what we are up against. I had been verbally promised by his doctor that all of the shots that he received did not contain mercury. But, after reading, I now doubt this. Can you give me any insight on this issue? Thanks so much for your help! F. Guest guest
Thanks for everyone's input. We went to hubby's drs yesterday. He doesn't think has anxiety. He prescribed Rozerem which supposedly doesn't have side effects and supposedly non-addictive. It's a sleep aid. Nothing else, just something to help him sleep. For a medicine that the dr says doesn't have side effects, this medicine has a long list of them. One of them being " depression, and wanting to harm oneself " . That one stood out at me immediately and I didn't want him to take it. Our insurance won't cover it b/c he's never been on anything else prior. They need dr's approval w/ a reason that he's been prescribed this before first being doped up on something else. Does that make sense? Does that sound like a safe medicine? Regardless, bought a few pills and he is " trying it out " . I wrote down all of the suggestions everyone gave me and the dr wasn't familiar with any of them except melatonin. He says that's safe and if wanted to try that before taking the Rozerem that would be fine. But doesn't think it'll work. He wants to take the meds first. I've been wanting to go to a homeopathic/naturopathic dr and finally agreed. Does anyone know of a good homeopathic/naturopathic dr around ville, FL? > > Hi, I've been a member of the group for a while and have enjoyed > reading your advice. Guest guest
Hi Judith, I think I would call the surgeon and tell him what is going on. Perhaps he will want to see you sooner. I don't think I would wait the 2 1/2 weeks to tell him about this pain. Keep us posted on what you find out. (from a rural gal in the US) Pat in Pennsylvania Bilateral TKR August 2010 intro and need advice Hi, I am Judith and I currently live in France. I had a total knee replacement seven weeks ago. I was in hospital for eight days with some physio and then went as a day patient for three weeks for about three hours phsio a day. Now I have outside phsio three times a week. I had been feeling that I was making some progress even though I was tired from the surgery. I also have heart problems and had to wait for surgery until safe to come off warfarin for about a year. The past few days my knee has been more stiff and more painful. It was feeling better in the mornings but now it hurts even in bed. I am not due to see the surgeon for two and a half weeks and wonder if this is normal. Any help would be appreciated as I don't know anyone else here who has had the same surgery as I live in a very rural area. thanks Judith
