Guest guest
Back home after TKR. Nurses were shocked when I stretched 115 out of 120 degrees the first day after surgery. Surgeon said that was his record. Nurses were all over trying my magic wand on their hurt spots. I bought two bottles of hospital named bottle water and transferred my colloidal silver. No body even looked twice at the water bottles. A nurse told me to get rid of some of my cinnamon pills. She said their lab needed to test the cinnamon to see if it was any good and bless its use. I sent all my vitamins back home as it wasn't worth the effort. If I used the right cinnamon dose glucose would be OK for one month. My knee has now a bunch of pain and my stretch dropped to 90 degrees. The Re-Hab place was filled so I need to look for another place for Re-Hab. I am on Medicare/Medicaid and it would not accept Medicaid so maybe I was lucky they would not take me. Brickey
Guest guest
I never show nurses what I take when I am in hospital. You should have hidden your cinnamon. Keep stretching the knee. Do you really have to go to rehab? No one at home? All the best, Joan ________________________________ From: " Skippyfj@... Guest guest
You are probably right, but I have had problems with nurses and they have caused me much distress because they would not give my some medications. Once i almost had a severe asthma attack because they would not let me use my inhaler. After that, I just keep mum and take the meds I need. ________________________________ From: Waspe <mary.waspe@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Wed, July 21, 2010 11:31:00 AM Subject: Re: Re: Fw: Re: Positive results on obesity and TKR... Guest guest
Interesting thread here. They had fits about my nitro. I have nitro spray and they took it away from me. I get heart spasms. I had to YELL for them when I had one...(that is what they told me to do......the fools and I was a fool for doing it.....)....and they can go into full heart attacks. I finally got the hospital doctor to write in my file that it could stay by my bed. They had already taken away all my minerals, told by my doctor to take, but not prescription......so that put me into heart problems. THEN when I yelled.........no one heard me..........and I yelled again...... well when I wrote up my post hospital what I thought of the stay, I said all good things,,,,,,,,,except on this.. I learned that " next " time, I hide my vitamins and minerals and take them anyway and carry several nitros and hide that too.............then in the recovery room they would not give me my cpap machine and were having fits because I kept stopping breathing.......duh. dash Re: Re: Fw: Re: Positive results on obesity and TKR... Guest guest
I thought so too , but they refused to give it to me, my stay was over 10 days and I needed it.......and ended up in heart spasm because it was denied to me. I otherwise agree with you, but there are sometimes when I guess I now will lie. dash Re: Re: Fw: Re: Positive results on obesity and TKR... Guest guest
¹s right here. People still do die under general anesthesia, though very rarely, and one thing that can go wrong is unanticipated drug interactions. Nurses in particular can be outrageous control freaks, but on this one we have to tolerate them, for our own safety. If the natural drugs you are taking are effective, they must be disclosed. (If they¹re totally inert, no, but if they¹re totally inert why are you taking them?) Guest guest
I totally agree with you. My surgeon went through all my pills with me and OK'ed all of them. I did, of course, stop taking aspirin two weeks before the surgery. You are the person who knows your body best. Guest guest
You are playing with fire if you hide your medication from your medical personnel when you are having a procedure of any kind. If it is necessary for you to have something at your bedside for a bona fide emergency, then your doctor can write that in the orders. If you need these items, your doctor was at fault for not ensuring that they were available for you. If something goes wrong, and you were found to have been sneaking medication in, you would most likely lose the ability to claim malpractice. I can't claim to know what your ailments are but if you need emergency nitro and stop breathing without a machine, you are certainly a patient who is at high risk for any surgical procedure and all the more reason to make sure that all medical personnel are completely aware of everything you are taking and/or what needs to be done. Guest guest
As I said before, my surgeon was aware of all the stuff I had with me. The hospitals say that they will give you the medication you need, but they really don't, or make you wait forever for them. In fact, it was my surgeon who told me to bring my inhaler this time and not count on the nurses giving me one. At least this time, when I complained the day after the surgery that the urine tube was giving me cystitis, they started me on the the proper pills immediately. The last time it took a day and a half of agony before I could get the proper meds. Hospitals can kill you. ________________________________ From: " jujulabee@... Guest guest
My surgeon was fine with all the stuff......it was the nurses that went nuts. I was in a hospital and then moved. My original doctor was not on the case as before.....and I had a hospital doc and it took him awhile to write the order. The nurses took away my minerals at the second hospital. I was able to take them at the first one.......was just a crazy journey. dash Re: Re: Fw: Re: Positive results > on obesity > and TKR... > > You are probably right, but I have had problems with nurses and they > have caused > > me much distress because they would not give my some medications. > Once i almost > > had a severe asthma attack because they would not let me use my > inhaler. Guest guest
I agree Joan. It is a real battle and the nurses have orders to do what they do. It is really hard to fight it all. I was in hospital about 14 days. So the first hospital didn't care but the second one did..... next time I am hiding a second set of stuff into my bags. Once the procedure is over.....it is not something they have to know....unless the presiding doc will write the order. I need my nitro NOW when the heart attack starts, not later when they get there.... only to find a dead body...... it was nuts. dash Re: Re: Fw: Re: Positive results on obesity and TKR...
