Guest guest
That is strange that it is only one of your legs that flares up. I have often looked at the Zappos online but I couldn't purchase shoes online not knowing if they would fit or not. It's so embarrassing going to try shoes on with these big feet but I do manage to find nice shoes that do fit. I have to wonder though since these pointy toe high heels have come back, I have been wearing them and I have to wonder if they are part of the cause of the swelling. I have wondered why my toe nails have been growing inward and I now see that it's probably due to the pointy shoes pushing my toes so tightly together. I also tend to wear shoes with some elastic on top which gathers fluid on top of my foot. I tend to overdo it on the salt but not one doctor has told me to reduce my salt intake. I have often wondered about my lower back pain. Since I started exercising I noticed more lower back pain. My OS says it has nothing to do with my new hip. My GP says all my swelling is due to my new hip and so is my back pain. So who's right? I must try the Vitamin C. Leanne, let me know if the Vitamin C and banana are helping you. I mean now that my 6 years of the worst form has gone and left me mostly with the vascular/water (non lymph) form I was experiencing sometimes a whole week where that leg was only about 1/3 swelled and that was new and I was pleased but now it is back up again. I think if it was due to salt why would only the one leg suffer from sodium? And why do diuretics not work I also ask myself. Other but related topic: I had something strange happen this morning. Not related to edema but to my lower back muscle cramping and rt knee pain wt bear pangs. I was dreading going for P.T. after this achy muscle and joint weekend. Well about an hour ago I found myself walking around fairly achy free and was shocked to say the least at how I did nothing to have this suddenly stop. So I began to think. I ate a banana. Also I had taken a 500 Vit C tablet to help with a small iron supplement. I think I had had the Vit C tablet long enough before for it to have been what might have helped me. The banana I had only taken about 1/2 hr before I noticed all was better but heck either one could have been what helped me. Vit C is an antiinflammatory and Bananas have potassium in them and might help me ward off muscle cramping if I only remembered to eat one every morning. ar Now I must see what my leg does in light of my getting rid of my lower back and knee pain. I think the pain of wt bearing can cause me stress and that opposing leg to get overused and swell. LEANN (I will look up the style of that drew shoe, it might be something you might not consider attractive but maybe something for around the house (has a moderate wedge like inclining heel not a real heel) Thanks to the internet (Zappo's) I am finding myself more able to locate and introduce myself back into oxford shoes (rather than open not wide enough sandals all the time which have cross straps and cause more top of foot edema) after finding some that have fantastic widths (sneaker types) and others that are leather but have soft nylon (cloth)tops above the instep and toes. Just wonderful and my foot edema has even gone down from these new shoe findings. And I don't need to wear the foot compression device since my shoes do the job nicely and comfy now. I had a THR on November 2004, after that my feet were very swollen but so was my operated leg, it eventually went down but was never the same, had kind of a numb feeling to it. My feet are swelling every day now. I have seen every specialist there is to see and the last one who was a vascular specialist said it's lymphodema. He said there's nothing I can do about it, no tests to be done, just lose about ten pounds and exercise. So I started exercising but my feet still tend to swell and I wake up at night and can't move my operated le > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > > > > > > > >
