Guest guest
I've been a " watcher " and " reader " of this group for several months now, learning from all of your input. I've appreciated all the accumulated experiences that you have shared. My TKR will be on Tuesday (9/14). I've had all the pre-op exams and everything is a go. I like my surgeon (she's been my orthopedic doc for several years now). Both knees will eventually get done; one at a time. I'm a 69 year old male, somewhat overweight, but in good physical condition. I have a pretty high pain threshold, but I'm uncomfortable with not knowing what is going to happen (and all the surgery and recovery stuff is in that category). I'm lucky in that my wife (a retired nurse) will be my advocate throughout the process. I'm interested in basic guidance on getting through the hospital stay and early recovery. The fundamental advice I've gotten from my doctor and the hospital is do exactly what you are told to do and don't be a hero, take the pain meds. I do want to pitch my expectations at a reasonably realistic level and move on with my life. Thanks in advance for your responses.
