Guest guest
LOL@ zonked out on drugs..........BARB in Florida Re: bathing My husband had a thr. His incision was covered with a special plastic bandage so he was permitted to shower as soon as he came home (day 5). I had tkr with the same kind of bandage over the incision and was not permitted to shower until 24 hours AFTER the stitches come out. Effectively 15 days. Different surgeons. My surgeon is paranoid about infection and prohibits anything that has even the slightest chance of introducing bacteria to the wound. It's not that hard. I have those baby wipe type tissues and use them every time I use the toilet. Then every morning I filled the sink and had a sink bath. Every few days my husband scrubbed my back for me. You are moving around so little that you never work up a sweat or anything and frankly, for the first week you could care less about ANYTHING, just zonked out on drugs. In numerous articles that I have read it says > that you cannot bathe for about two weeks after hip > replacement. Is this accurate?
