Guest guest
Alisa, I wouldn't dare not to....my surgeon is very firm in his instructions...... I just haven't gotten them yet so was inquiring to everyone's experiences. BARB Bathing - From the Moderator I would like to thank those of you that have provided your experiences, especially those that recommended following what your PARTICULAR surgeon recommends. That is really the gauge as to what the incision can tolerate. Saran wrap as a product is not waterproof and can actually cause infection because it holds bacteria in. Bathing can be done at the bathroom or kitchen sink without getting the incision wet if your surgeon does not recommend a sticky product like Opsite or Tegaderm, both of which adhere around the wound to provide air passage but prevent water. Bathtubs are usually avoided for at least 3-4 wks or more depending on staples or after the surgeon's clearance. Bottom line: follow Surgeon's orders!
