I am now 8 wks post op and still itching but at the point where I can now use lotion on it and that helps. I was scratching everywhere on my leg but my incision. Guest guest Posted December 18, 2007 Report Share Posted December 18, 2007 I've learned the hard way (from breast surgery done 15 years ago) that I'm allergic to the tape in Steri-Strips as well as from Band-aids or any other kind of adhesive tape. And no matter how many times I make note of it when interviewed about my medical history, no-one ever seems to notice it. So, after each knee surgery, when the staples were removed, I had to insist "NO STERI-STRIPS." I think they're more of a problem near an incision where the skin is doing its best to heal. So from now on, just insist that you cannot have those pesky things put onto your skin!
