Guest guest
Hi all, I met with Barry Salky (surgeon in NYC at Mount Sinai) last week and will be having my redo done on June 11th. Apparently, my Dor is probably too tight and he is going to do a " Salky " wrap which is apparently the stomach wrapped on one side and not both, so looser than what I have now. He does the redo surgery laproscopically, and when I asked him why some surgeons prefer to do open procedures for redos, he said, lack of experience. I know there are some very experienced A surgeons who do open, maybe they just aren't as experienced with lap surgery. Anyway, he also said that they think the cause of A is a virus that attacks the nerves of the E. But of course, there is no definitive answer. Just thought it was interesting. Wish me luck! I just had an email from another New Yorker who I met in this board who also needed a redo and she went to Salky in December and said she is doing great, eating normally.
