Guest guest
Well, I can't say I can walk a mile happily or without being tired, but I can say my knee won't be the problem. I just got back from 6 days at Disney World with my very active 6-year-old. I am just a few days short of one year since my TKR and I walked and walked the entirety of Magic Kingdom, Epcot (some parts several times), MGM studios, some of Downtown Disney and Animal Kingdom. We rested some and took transport when we could but I walked a lot and my knee was never the problem. My knee didn't hurt and didn't fail me. Now my feet... wish I could replace those as I have a huge blister. When I was two months out from surgery, I walked through two large airports and a huge resort hotel for a conference. My ankles swelled but I could do it. I walk a mile around the neighborhood frequently. I don't walk fast and probably don't walk with a lot of grace, but I do it and it doesn't hurt. It does get better and now I wish I could fix my other problems as well as my knee. -----Original Message-----From: Joint Replacement [mailto:Joint Replacement ]On Behalf Of Peg NicholsSent: Sunday, December 30, 2007 8:07 PMJoint Replacement Subject: Walking a mile I hope that's a mile on a treadmill. I've never used a treadmill, so it must be different, but I'm six months post-surgery on knee replacement and I couldn't walk a mile to this day. When I was about three months post surgery, I actually walked around one whole city block, and was darned glad to get back to my car. I still keep a cane in the car with me.Every case is different. My second night post-surgery was really miserable. By then, fortunately, I could get out of bed to use the bed-side commode, but I was also nauseaos and had a worrisome temperature spike. If I'd been at my daughter's house, I would have kept everyone up all night to care for me.Peg Nichols"I Kneeded It"
