Looking for a new orthopedic surgeon

I live in Berkeley, Ca and am looking for a new orthopedic surgeon. The one I

have told me that if I lost 50 lbs, my knees wouldn't hurt. When I pushed him on

it, he said, well they might hurt but then I'd do surgery on them. When I said

that it was hard to exercise with knees that hurt, he said, well there's other

ways to lose weight--which I took to mean stomach stapling. Well, after getting

that news I got pretty depressed until I ran into an old friend who'd had both

knees replaced and she said..get a new Dr.

So, does anyone have any recommendations for Orthos in the east bay or resources

to find recommendations? I'd actually be interested in trying something stop-gap

like SynVisc 1 that people were writing about a while back...

Thanks--Arl

Find an OS or OS group that deals with complex knee and hip cases.such as

special

revisions or highway crash victims etc as a potential part of their every days

work. Ones who specialize only in knees or knees and hips.
