Guest guest
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, Devora. I had my TKR the day before yours, and I'm hoping that I won't have a manipulation suggested by my surgeon on Monday. My PT says he won't, but I know my surgeon is a perfectionist, so who knows?! My PT is measuring me at 100 degrees, but I know my surgeon wants to see 120. I'm HOPING he'll just write me a Rx for another month of physical therapy. I can already walk w/out pain and take stairs, as well. Needless to say, I hope your situation improves... And I'm glad you'll be communicating with your surgeon, too. Thanks again... Barb Linden Oklahoma -- After my MUA I had a Manipulation under anesthesia last Wednesday and no wish I had never had it done. They broke my adhesions in my knee, bent my foot clear back to my bottom. I woke up in terrible pain with about a 100 degree bend. Starting the next day, I did PT every day and 3 more times on my own, quite agressively. We got my knee to 120, but then after the weekend it started tightening up; I have edema in my calf and 90-100 degree bend ( I had already bipassed these numbers before the MUA) 9 days later, I can barely walk, have to ice and elevate just like after my TKR, and feel like I am worse off. I now firmly believe that my surgeon should never have recommended a TKR (which I had Dec 17, 2010) without several months of PT before. I had limped for years, had shortened muscles and tendon problems, and these should have been resolved before the TKR. All these problems have kept my knee from bending. Everything that hurt before the TKR, hurts worse now. I really don t know what is going to bring back my mobility now and am angry at the non-holistic orientation of my surgeon. He never even talked to me about the state of my soft tissues in my leg. He is known for his brilliance at robotic arm computer aided TKR, but seems to have been ignorant about the rest of my problems. I am planning on writing him a letter.
