High oxalates are probably not good for anyone.  Cows who get into a

patch of spinach sometimes die because the gobble down huge amounts of

spinach.

But some people are really sensitive to oxalates in the diet, but seem

to be able to handle moderate doses.   Research into dietary oxalates

is relatively new and not well funded yet.   Many people who have

Asperger's syndrome as well as parents & caretakers of those with

severe autism have no real awareness of oxalates, and often are very

resistant to hearing about a low oxalate diet.  severely autistic

It seems to me (no research to back trhis up) that a high oxalate diet

is not good for anyone, but many seem to be abe to handle a moderate

oxalate diet.   If one has a leaky gut from lots of antibiotic use, if

one is on the Autism spectrum, or has any gut problems which cause a

leaky gut, cutting way back on oxalates would probably be advisable.

There is something I find very odd about oxalate problems.   Many

people on the oxalate list report that people with oxalate problems

are very strong desirous of eating certain high oxalate foods.  For

me, I love spinach, pistachio nuts and cayenne.  But other high

oxalate foods I always avoided.
