Guest guest
When I first got sick I thought the headaches might be eye strain so I went and got my eyes tested - new reading glasses were prescribed, and also, distance ones for the first time. They both were good, eye strain was less, but headaches persisted. Later, CFS was dx'd which explains the headaches. But does CFS also interfere with focus? Several times recently, I have sat down to the computer late afternoon or evening, and it seems I have someone else's glasses on - I cant read text at all. Is this normal with CFS? In the morning I can see OK. Another thing - I seem to be getting more and more pains in my chest (not stabbing, more an ache). How do you decide whether it's just part of the general problem, or perhaps something more in need of urgent attention? Thanks Kerry. Guest guest
When I have gone through extended flare periods my vision has always been the first thing to go. I will get new prescription glasses, but headaches continue and focusability is out the window anyway. As I come out of flare my eyes always (four over 5 years) revert to the original prescription strength, the newer prescription being now too strong. Guest guest
Funny you should mention that, I never had bad eyesight until recently, now I have to wear glasses all the time. My optometrist did say that the extreme change could be due to diet. I've been on the diet for 18 months. Eyesight I am new to the list but not to ER4YT. My question is about eyesight. Guest guest
> Are you insane? But, hey, feel free to go blind obeying every last tenet of > the one true faith. Heh heh. If they had been a true follower they would have been eating liver, which is considered highly beneficial... I've posted about liver already but... Liver is has the highest concentration of vitamin A that I know of, to the point of risking toxicity. Since beef and liver are considered highly beneficial it goes without saying that anyone adhering to the " O " diet is going to get more than their fair share of the active form of vitamin A, retinol (think retinal, relating to the eyes if that helps you remember). Sometimes vitamins and minerals are not recommended because if someone really is following the diet than additional supplmentation is just supersaturation... which is a waste of money and possibly unnecessarily stressful to the body. Two to three ounces of beef liver in addition to a sensible meat-based meal is more than adequate for most Os. Kidney is another great organ meat, you can eat 4-6 ounces of that without worrying about vitamin A overdose (headaches, double-vision and nausea are not my idea of " good nutrition " ). You can check out the nutritional profiles of various foods at: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl Notice how incredibly high beef is, lamb is next, and you don't have to worry too much if you're eating chicken liver. I LOVE the taste of grass-fed beef and veal liver, too bad those are the highest in A... <sigh> So eat your liver!
Guest guest
I can't remember off hand but .. is beta carotene supposedly an avoid? anyway ... there are foods that contain Vitamin A which we can eat... such liver (as already mentioned) and eggs. Aside from straight vitamin A we should ingest beta carotene which is basically a precourser to Vit A. Sources are green leafy vegetables (of course lol ugh), orangish yellow fruit and vegettables, squash, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe. Lycopene is being found to be important to eye health and it is found in reddish fruits such as tomatoes, and watermelon (I think). and another type of carotenoid don't remember the name starts with " xan... " is found in salmon and reddish shellfish (crab, lobster). Anyway I'd look in dadamo food db and find the green leafies that are highest in carotenoids... and eat them with eggs and tomatoe and cantaloupe (not all together lol). Aside from that Dadamo specifically says that these are guidelines - if you are not functioning optimally then you can " deviate " from the strictest guideline.. like if you are allergic to plums don't eat them even if they are highly beneficial... ettc. Guest guest
Sorry, but there is no way that loss of eyesite can come from giving your body the nutrients it needs. As we already know doctors will blame all kinds of problems on eating food that is actually good for you instead of the 'junk' foods out there. Probably comes from years before ER. Eventually it all catches up with us..... blessings, kathy s **email me privately for more info on ordering Dr D's (NAP) products kksmith@... Guest guest
I would make sure (If not using New Chapter) that you always us a buffered Vit C. Such as Ascorbate form of C instead of Ascorbic acid. With O tendancy to acid stomach the ascorbic acid will agrivate the problem. Guest guest
What is legally blind? I ask because I have always been nearsighted and my eyesight was -850 in both eyes for several years. I have worked with an alternative eye doctor and quickly brought it down to -550. His main concern was to get it lower than -600 because of the pressure that anything over -600 puts on the retina. He has techniques for getting me lower, but I have been so busy that I have not gone to him in several months. No doctor has ever said that I was legally blind. I wish I could say that drinking KT has improved my situation. It has not. But thanks for the reminder. I need to go back to the eye doctor and continue the work we started. He says that I am a guinea pig for him because most of the people he has helped were far sighted or just slightly near sighted. Severely near-sighted people are the most difficult to reverse. So if KT helped you, that is great to know. Maybe it will help me as well in the future. Guest guest
I was always told since I was a young girl that -4.50 was legally blind. So that is what I went by. I could be wrong these days. Guest guest
>> Does anyone know, within this group, the "neck and head exercises" that > Edgar Cayce wrote about to improve a person's eyesight?> Hi , Yes, Cayce mentions these exercises in a number of readings. Here is a sampling. Tom 1523-15 (Q) What can be done to strengthen my eyes? (A) An exercise, - the head and neck exercise taken consistently, morning and evening; AND the use of the Violet Ray. These would strengthen the eyes. For instance, of mornings: Exercise the body especially above the waist, see? and the head and neck, for about five minutes. Forward three times, backward three times, with the body very erect; then to the left three times, to the right three times, then circle to the right three times, circle to the left three times, see? This head and neck exercise would come after there has been the exercise with the hands on hips and the circling around of the body, see, first one way, then the other. Then the head and neck exercise would be done with the body sitting (or standing) very erect. Then - standing - stretch the arms slowly, directly above the head, gently rising on the toes at the same time. In the evening: Circulate the body, the limbs - from the waist downward. This tends to equalize the flow of the circulation to the lower limbs, and will aid. But take the head and neck exercise, night and morning - preferably with the body sitting, and erect [7/26/49 See letter under 1523-17 Reports in re eyes]. 1597-2 It would be well for these, also, for the stimulating and strengthening, that the head and neck exercise be taken night and morning, consistently; not doing it just one day and skipping two or three, but consistently. It will only take a few minutes just before retiring, and upon arising. Circulate the head, gently, slowly, three times, - first one way, then the other; three times forward, three times backward; three times either side. Be consistent with these, and we will remove much of that tendency for phlegm, as well as irritation; and with the corrections osteopathically that will be made throughout the system, these will bring better conditions. Do that. 2552-1 (Q) May anything be done to strengthen the eyes? (A) The head and neck movements will strengthen the eyes the most, if done consistently each night before retiring and each morning on first arising. Sit and gently bow the head forward three times; then as far back as possible three times. The drop the head to each side in the same way three times; then the circular motion of the head three times to the right and three times to the left. We find that this will materially aid, with the other applications, the hearing and also the eyes. For, the deflections in the dorsal and the cervical area hinder complete circulation to the organs of the sensory system; as naturally any infection to the circulation through the head and throat would tend to do. 306-2 (Q) What causes my eyes to burn? (A) The pressure that has been indicated. There may be taken certain exercises that may gradually correct this. These can be over-done, also they can be undone or done too little for effectiveness! At least twice each week take the head and neck exercise, independent of the other treatments - before retiring; and in the beginning it would be best to take it before retiring because it'll make the body feel dizzy, little headache through the eyes, and more roaring than occurs at times in the ears - or the drumming! But, continue to take it! Forward three times, as far as the head can be bent; sitting erect when ready for bed, preferably after getting in bed but sit up in bed and do it - Forward as far as can be bent, counting the times. Then to the back, bending back as far as possible - just with the head and neck. Then to the left side, same number of times. Then to the right side. Then a circular motion, left to right. Then the circular motion right to left. And you'll want to lay down after that, for the first few times! But this burning in the eyes will gradually disappear. Also there will be the tendency for a betterment of the impediment in speech, with relieving the pressure in the ear and auditory forces.
