Guest guest
Hello everyone. Id appreciate your opinions please - I have just received an invitation for a dear friends wedding to be held 9 days after my THR is scheduled. Do you think I will be able to make it? Will I be able to sit for hours at a reception? Will I still be on medication? I am 39 and will be having an anterior approach ceramic-on-ceramic. Any thoughts? Thanks
Guest guest
I had anterior with ceramic on ceramic and honestly I would NOT have wanted to attend an event at which I would have to sit and stand for hours -- not to mention however long it took to drive there plus all the preparation in terms of showering; hair; dressing. I am also not sure what shoes I would have worn -- but that's a minor consideration LOL. I could definitely have gone to a wedding for awhile -- after 9 days I went out to eat at restaurants but I was glad to be back home after awhile so that I could elevate my leg and relax. I was still on pain meds after nine days but they didn't really impact me in terms of alertness or whatever. I wasn't in pain per se but I would just have found this kind of formal situation to be " uncomfortable " physically as at that time point I was needing to constantly change my positions -- i.e. lie down; lie on couch with egg elevated; walk around; sit On Dec 19, 2009, at 5:27 AM, sanzinoz wrote: > Hello everyone. Guest guest
You really won't know until after your surgery, but you probably won't feel up to it. You will also still be using crutches, and won't be driving. If the event is nearby and it's really important to go, and someone takes you and tends to you, and you can just sit and visit for an hour or so and leave, then maaaaybe. But no, you will not be ready for a full-day event of " normal " activity. -September > > Hello everyone. Guest guest
No guarantees on the outcome of surgery and level of activity can be given. It's just too complex and too many possibilities that can't be totally controlled. I just had a Left THR and had many activities planned for shortly after surgery based on my recovery experience after a Right THR. My plans are being revised on a much longer time line. > > > > Hello everyone.
