Guest guest
I am so sorry... I know how you feel, I was going for a home improvement loan, after a lot of hoop jumping, it wasnt approved, I cried rivers, I fortunately have some very good people in my life, my BF and Father of my child, they gave me the money. Is there anyone you can borrow from??? I will keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer for you. Laurie /// > Today has been an emotional rollercoaster. Guest guest
A GI only checks out the esophagus and some are very good at diagnosing Achalasia. I was lucky to have an internist from Pakistan and her husband is a GI. She had him check me and he didn't even try to treat my problem. He told me to go to Emory Hospital in Atlanta and have Dr. C. talk to me. He does a lot of this type of surgery for Achalasia. I had a Heller Myotomy with wrap. No problems so far after three months. I was grateful my GI knew enough to send me to someone that was better able to help me. He himself told me I had Achalasia. He was very good. He could have treated me with dilation, balloon therapy and Botox, but told me I would be better off to see a surgeon. I applaud him for this. I am forever grateful to him. Bev. Guest guest
, Just a note on the Nexium...I was prescribed that by my doctor this summer because I was starting to have pain in my stomach that she felt was an ulcer, it was different from the spasms I was used to with A., however an unexpected side benefit of the Nexium was that I have not had spasm since July. I have never gone this long without one and feel so much better - I sleep at night without being awaken by that terrible pain. I still have swallowing difficulty but the absence of the spasms is wonderful. It may be worth trying. Guest guest
First of all, serious weight loss rarely begins until you get to a good fill level, and it can take 3-5 fills over several months to get there. Patience is something we all must develop with banding. It's quite normal to regain a bit after losing from the liquid diet after surgery. Certainly stop the fast foods. There is NO redeeming value in any fast food. this is part of the essential lifestyle changes we have to make. Remember, you must eat enough to lose. A good goal for most women is 1200-1500 cal a day, of solid protein, veggies, whole cereal grains, and a bit of fruit. If you're starting over about 300#, a good goialo will be 1500-1800 calories. do not go below this, or your loss will stall. Your body needs ENOUGH calories to agree to lose a bit. too little will make it feel threatened, and you won't lose. This period of time is not for losing, but for putting into place the better habits that will assist the band when you get to a good fill. Work on learning about good nutrition, and the foods that will give you the 50-60 grams of protein a day we need, along with 25 gm of fiber, and 1200-1500 mg of calcium. Start getting some good daily exercsiwe, even if you start with only a 45-min walk. Work your way up to good cardio and weight training over the next few months. Be sure to get your fluid in. A good goal for breakfast is maybe 200 calories, for lunch maybe 300- 400, and for dinner 600-700. Work with fitday.com to find foods you like that fit into this. This lerning about nutritino is essentiual, so our giving you mneal plans will really stand in your way of learning what you need to learn to do well. But you might get some ideas from post # 4396 here. (enter this # in the " msg# " blank at the top of the page) and, very importantly, start to work on the emotional eating issues we all have - What needs we are trting to meet with inappropriate eating. Many of us work with a good therapist. Many others have found the Bandster success CD;'s very useful - www.BandsterME.com Then, whe nthese things are all improving, and you get to a good fill level, your weight loss will begin in earnest. there is nothing you can safely do to speed this process up. trying to take shortcuts never works, and always hurts in the long run. Banding loss is a process, and many things make up the successful " formula. " Sandy R > > Okay guys, I need some band support really bad. Guest guest
the reason you're getting hungry is that the protein shakes are not filling your pouch and keeping you full. you might want to try a good fiber cereal or an egg instead. That made a huge difference for me. That will also help you meet your fiber needs. Inamed says " no liquid calories " and I've found that very important for sustained loss - but each to their own, of course. Sandy R > Okay guys, I need some band support really bad. Guest guest
Hello All, Well I'm almost at week 2 post-banding. The last two mornings I have gotten on the scale (previously I was showing at least 1 lb loss daily) and I have gained 2 lbs back (one each day). I could just cry. The mind hunger has been extremely hard for me (and it's not like I'm eating more). Anyone have any advice? Vivian DOB 04/12/2006 230/220 (previously 218)/ 125 Re: What the heck is wrong with me???? // I can also eat and eat and eat....I feel no restriction. // you already know this but, just because you can eat does not mean you should :-) If you are just starving, and food is going right through, I would say your band is too lose. I think you might try solid foods again. You must chew very, very well or the food will get stuck. I would not start with chicken as it usually gets stuck (for me anyway). I would try something like ground beef which is a lot easier to chew up. You should also know that you can not eat very much when it comes to solid food. Less then 1/2 a cup total maybe less. Also remember, do NOT eat for more then 20 minutes (this is hard at first). If you do, you are defeating the purpose of the band. Since you are still new to all this, you will want to eat more then you can and you will think that you have not eaten enough. Let me assure you of 1 thing, you will NOT starve to death. We have enough fat in storage to keep us going for months without food. It really is all about re training your brain right now. It will take a long time but eventually, you will learn that a little food goes a long way. Good luck and keep us posted. 7/18/05 280/190/

Guest guest
//I have gained 2 lbs back (one each day).// Vivian, Don't be so hard on yourself. You will fluctuate even once you get to Your goal weight. You can not gain 2 lbs in body fat in a day or 2, it is just water weight. I fluctuate by at least 3lbs all the time. That is why I don't update my weight at the bottom until I have been at the same weight for at least 2 weeks. You should also know that it is possible to gain weight before your first fill. Remember until you have a proper fill, the band is not working, you will feel hungry and be able to eat just like before. Hang in there, it gets better. Guest guest
Hi Vivian, I am 1 week post-op and for the 1st time I am struggling with the head hunger. Although I have been hungry (more so than usual) and I think for me I am just not drinking enough fluids. Prior to surgery, I usually would only drink with a meal. So for me to be constantly be drinking something is a tough one. I have this problem of associating liquids with meals only. I think from what all the ones who have been banded for awhile have said is that the actual weightloss will really begin after we get our first fill. Yes, Its hard to conceive that we wont lose weight with only liquids going in and how could we possibly gain on that?? I am not sure how it all works but I do know that I am having a tough time today. I think if we stay positive and think like losers (boy, that doesn't sound good!! LOL) we can get through these broth days!! Hang in There! Tammy I. DOB-4/20/06 goes everywhere you do. Get it on your phone.
Guest guest
sounds exactly like me I hit day 13 & stalled for a 4 days then i'd lose 2-3lbs & stall again. Cept I did the apple day & it worked I lost a couple lbs the following day then stalled again. until i read the "weight loss cure guide" & figured out everything i was doing wrong. 1. I was mixing veggies 2. I was chewing sugarless gum, cuz i was told I could 3. I was eating pickles, again cuz i was told I could 4. Only meats i like & would eat was chicken & beef (so i had the same meat twice a day sometimes) So I added fat free cottage cheese made with skim milk & boiled eggs to mix it up & not eat the same protein 2x a day 5. I was cutting out the meat(protein) completely cuz i was so sick of the same thing day after day (not a good idea, I had no energy to move, literally, & my kidneys were killin me) 6. I was using lotion & chapstick didn't know I wasn't suppose to. Doc never said anything about cosmetic stuff etc. 7. I also had to decrease my meds my doc had me injecting 200 per day so I went back to the original protocol amount (125) but ended up increasing to 150 for hunger So many things it could be you just have to evaluate everything your doing to figure out what is going wrong. If anything P.S. my sister stalled for a couple days after mixing meatloaf (beef & raw eggs etc) with her bare hands when making dinner for the family It's amazing what your skin can/will absorb for food/calories From: Lori <llipten@...>Subject: Discouraged Date: Monday, May 25, 2009, 6:34 AM I have been on the protocol for 3 weeks. The first week I lost 8.5 pounds, then I lost another 5 pounds. The 3rd week, I have lost nothing. I am not premenstrual and not retaining fluids (had this checked at my doctor's office with a body scanning machine). I am completely discouraged. I keep reading how so many people are losing 20 and 30 pounds and its hard not to compare. Has any body hit long stalls? I've done the apple day - with no shift. I did the suggestions and they didn't change anything. Does anyone have experience with this? How did you keep your spirits high and did you have results at the end of the long stalls? Thank you. Guest guest
Hi , Sorry that you are feeling discouraged. I've had some fairly weird skin eruptions since starting iodine. One was very cancer like, next to my knee, took painting with iodine for an entire month before it finally shriveled and flaked off. It might be possible it's a " survival " mechanism for internal fungus(cancer). Tries to leave the inhospitable place, the iodine rich body. I wouldnt give up. I would keep painting the spot with iodine, many many times a day. I have one spot i had pre-iodine,pretty sure it was not good. I have painted that thing several times daily for the entire 6 months and it was only a few days ago that i saw any change in it at all. It finally had a major " flake off " and the skin under was pink for the first time! I think some skin lesions are just more difficult to get rid of than others. And perhaps some are just beneath the skin waiting to erupt. Hang in there! Guest guest
Yes, a few years back I eliminated bread, etc. And I've been on 300-400 mg of CoQ10 daily for several years. I was actually doing really well with no new skin cancers for several years. Then I got a tiny slow-growing one last year, which set me on this course. I'm happy I have the Cansema in my repertoire to do its thing instead of getting cut up by the doc, but it just feels counter-intuitive that I'm getting worse since being on Iodine. ~WOn Sun, Jan 31, 2010 at 7:18 AM, ido zahavi <zahavi100@...> wrote:  did you change your diet.eliminated all grains.go to the site of doug kaufmann and learn about yeast and cancer.look also at raspex very good product.i do not know how old you are but high dose of good q-10 is also good

Guest guest
iodine is not enough.i believe you have to do the rest ,otherwise you get via the grains the cancer back On Sun, Jan 31, 2010 at 2:54 PM, wendy 56789 <wendy56789@...> wrote:  Yes, a few years back I eliminated bread, etc. ~W On Sun, Jan 31, 2010 at 7:18 AM, ido zahavi <zahavi100@...> wrote:  did you change your diet.eliminated all grains.go to the site of doug kaufmann and learn about yeast and cancer.look also at raspex very good product.i do not know how old you are but high dose of good q-10 is also good
Guest guest
I second with your suspicion that the fungus is trying to leave to a more hospitable environment. I just recently started iodine on my kids (various reasons, candida overgrowth being a major one) and two of my kids have since developed weird candida-like rashes on various parts of their bodies and the other complains of skin itching, which has always been one of his symptoms. I myself got a rash on my wrist, under my watch, which has NEVER been a problem for me. I put a bit of baking soda on it, b/c I have read that candida cannot thrive in a baking soda environment. Some docs even use baking soda to treat cancerous tumors. > > > > I started on this journey sort of by accident when researching how to get > > rid of my skin cancer in a better way than cutting it off every time at the > > doc -- about April 2009. Guest guest
For what it is worth, the body seems to develop momentum, & it takes a long time to reverse its course. We tend to think of cancer as something that suddenly appears, but cancer takes years to develop. (And if some of the more alternative types are to be believed, it goes through various stages -- some of which respond to different conditions in the body.) If you were sick enough before you started iodine, there were well-established disease processes at work that you didn't even know about, & it will take a while to get them all reversed.I have only recently been reading up on iodine, & cannot yet testify to huge gains. However, your situation just suggests to me that you have a way to go to reestablish full health. Don't give up too soon.AnneOn Jan 31, 2010, at 4:04 AM, wendy 56789 wrote: I started on this journey sort of by accident when researching how to get rid of my skin cancer in a better way than cutting it off every time at the doc -- about April 2009. I've been on 50 mg of Iodoral (as well as companion supplements) for several months now. I've tried higher but didn't do well on it, and since I'm small-framed and just over 100 pounds, I figured 50 was a good dose for me. Anyway, I just had a weird spot develop on my ankle a few weeks ago (I assumed it was a bug bite or something). I started painting it with iodine to no avail. Then, I decided to try Cansema on it just in case, although I didn't initially suspect skin cancer. It just looked different from the others I've had (and I've had all 3 types). It reacted -- meaning it's cancerous according to how people interpret Cansema. What's got me even more upset is that it seemed like it grew at a faster rate than I've noticed before. Now, I'm beginning to doubt that iodine has done anything useful for me. Intellectually I know that my body needs iodine, but emotionally, I don't feel like I'm benefiting at all.Any words of encouragement would be appreciated. =( ~W
