Guest guest
Marilyn, Hang in there. I had both hips replaced 5 months apart within the last year. the first week or so can be a little uncomfortable, but do the PT exercises and you should do great. I'm so glad I did mine. I was exicited to do it but the first I was a little nervous because I'd never had any surgery in my 60 years. Good luck Kris Marilyn Lynch <MLynch7@...> wrote: Hello All, I am having a total hip replacement tomorrow morning. Any words of advice or wisdom from those of you who have been there ? Of course I have many worries but will be very happy to get the " knife " out of my back. It's been 3 months since I was told my hip was " bone on bone " and have had to curtail my usual enjoyable activities all that time due to the pain. Besides that I have a rotator cuff tear (which can be repaired in 2-4 months.) That will be a challenge using a walker. Marilyn Lynch MLynch7@... Guest guest
Me too, I've never had surgery in my 62 years. Thank you so much for telling us that. It's scary but I have to admit I've heard only good things from the people who have had THR done. Lynn > Hello All, > > I am having a total hip replacement tomorrow morning. Guest guest
I had one, I felt it was too dangerous for my body to have more than one. It gave me about a month reprieve, is that long enough for you to be ready for surgery? Lynn > > I am hurting pretty bad. i am a nurse and so I need to walk all day. Guest guest
Thanks to the folks who responded regarding my previous question about prosthesis options for THR. My husband had his hip replaced this past Tuesday and they let him come home on Thursday. He chose metal on metal. He is thrilled with the way the surgery went and is having minimal pain. He is taking Oxycontin (10mg) and hasn't needed the Oxycodone for breakout pain. He is walking on crutches (50% weight on the new hip), and getting up and down the stairs. He's doing the exercises they gave him and says they feel great. He will do those at home for two weeks, and then will go to outpatient PT. I'm so glad it's gone so well and look forward to him being able to go hiking with me and our dog again!
