Guest guest
What kinds of HR did he get. I am a month into a cementless revision and I'm warned not to walk more than a certain amount. The reason is that the PT does not want me to begin putting too much weight on the affected leg. Marcia Hi Carolyn, sounds like your husband is doing just fine. I think as long as he is using his walker he should walk as much as he wants. Walking is good. **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch " Cooking with Tyler Florence " on AOL Food. Guest guest
I had the anterior approach done in Los Angeles -- this is still major surgery but significantly decreases the restrictions and recovery. Mine was done by Dr. Moon at Cedar Sinai which is a first class facility. He might be in your network. You would have to check the specifics of your insurance policy in terms of how much is paid when a doctor is out of network. It can be quite a large amount of money if there is any reimbursement at all. Some plans do not provide for any reimbursement unless there is a complete necessity while others reimburse at 50% -- but not 50% of what you are charged. The only way to find out is to contact your insurance company. Guest guest
Hi Judy, My husband used to work for secure horizons and this is what he said " She needs to find out if her PCP is associated with that other Medical group, sometimes Dr's are associated with multiple grps, and she can ask to be switched over to the other group. If so that would be the easy way, or To find a Dr who is with that group and switch PCP drs and start the whole process over, so she can be with the grp who does the surgery. If not Secure Horizons wont pay for it, because it would be with a different group from her PCP, Secure Horizons is an HMO and does not cover Out of Network, unless it is out of the area ER services. " Hope it helps! > > > > > > Hi everyone - > > > > > > I just found this group while looking online at information about > > total > > > joint replacements. > > > > > > I had my hip replaced last July at a young age - 26. Guest guest
Ha anyone experienced one leg bei=mg shorter than the other after THR? Is it common? My PT said that she had noticed it and that I should have my shoe built up about one half inch. This is disappointing, but I can live with it. Guest guest
Hey , You are not alone. I am also 41 years old and had a Left THR on September 1, 2009. I didn't even do physical therapy until 30 days after my surgery and I only did it once or twice a week for two months after that. I was born with hip dysplasia so I always figured that I was a little different from the rest having hip replacements. I would have to say I felt the same way after my surgery. I went back to work at 3 1/2 weeks after surgery and I wish I could have taken more time off because the pain was pretty bad and I felt like I was going backwards also. I remember at 3 months out feeling like poo poo and used to get so mad and frustrated that I still couldn't walk like a normal person. I am now 10 months out and still have some issues sleeping on my left side. Or if I walk to much my hip and lower back get really sore. Also if I press certain areas of my leg it is actually still pretty tender. The doctor told me as long as the scar was still pink it was still healing on the inside. Until it turns completely white I will probably still feel some pain and part of it is still pink even after 10 months. I will think good thoughts for you and hope that you get thru this and try to keep telling yourself it will all be worth it in the end.... ADOPTION BLOG: www.ForeverFamilyAZ.blogspot.com<http://www.foreverfamilyaz.blogspot.com/> total hip replacement Hello everyone! My name is and I am 41 years old and am very hopeful that I will meet some people online that have gone through the same thing as myself. I had a total hip replacement about 3 months ago on my left hip. I have rheumatoid arthritis and had horrific damage and muscle atrophy prior to surgery. My question is this: How are you doing with your recovery? I am still having muscle pain despite religious physical therapy. I feel like I have gone backwards in my recovery. I still have serious difficulty lifting my knee or foot to take or put on shoes. PLEASE let me know if you too are having these same issues as I feel alone and unsure of myself. Thank you. Guest guest
Hi , I can understand what you are going through. Â You have the replacement and think everything will be fine right away if you are like me! Here is my story. Â My hip was replaced in November...minimally invasive. Â Surgery went fine, but my muscles had atrophied due to 3 years of not exercising much due to severe arthritis. Â My knee had also turned in to compensate for the hip pain so therapists had to get my leg to go forward instead of inward. Â Ouch! Â Around 3 months I felt that I was regressing ....hurt to put my weight on my operated leg, couldn't lift leg without hip flexor pain. Â My doctor assured me joint was fine, and had me quit any exercises that aggrevated the hip flexors and to only walk till I got stronger (and use hiking poles for a bit of support). Â I found a physical therapist who does something called integrative manual therapy..a very gentle body work that seems to release some of the problems in the muscles which have been struggling over the years. Â Long story short....at six months I felt wonderful, no pain, could walk, do yoga, all the things I was beginning to worry about at 3 months. Â My doctor said it can take up to a yeartill perfect. Â I did it in half the time, but I promise you at 3 months I felt I was getting worse and think I had perhaps pushed myself with my expectations. Â Everyone seems to heal differently! Â Best wishes in your recovery. Helen From: michelledinsmore10 <michelledinsmore10@...> Subject: total hip replacement Joint Replacement Date: Thursday, July 15, 2010, 12:08 AM Â Hello everyone!
