Guest guest
G.- I hope your show goes well for you this weekend! You can never bring too much with you since you never know what's gonna sell! My first show I sold mostly little cherubs and hearts. My second show I sold lots of my citrus bars and oatmeal, milk, and honey bars! Remember to let us know your best sellers when you're done. << So where are ya finind' the other shows?>> I found all the shows I'm doing in the Scotsman newspaper. I'm doing about 6 this season. I've also received applications at the shows I've done so far for other shows next year. (People hand them out at the show.) You can also visit shows and ask to be put on a mailing list for next year, or they may already have applications to hand out for next year. HTH! Guest guest
Hi , I am saying prayers for you. Has your doctor talked to you about grafting bone to recreate the barrier between your brain and your inner ear? This is also a condition I have, that the Mastoid bone was invaded so much by the ctoma that my brain is not protected in that space. Take care, Melody > I have had 2 surgeries - the first time they found the Cholesteatoma > (the Surgeon and I both thought this was a simple repair of > Otosclerosis). Guest guest
Melody - the surgeon did a graft - one of the things he will be checking on Friday is how well it took. I heal well, and will most likely be all right, I just am not used to not being all right. As a part of this, I lost my perception of up and down. This summer I passed on most of my family's activities, but finally went to a water park trip - thinking I could rest and hide from the sun at will. Well, I tried to ride a tube on the " lazy river ride " , and the tube flipped over. If my sister-in-law had not been keeping an eye out for me, I might have drowned in 3 feet of water, because I could not get myself up and out of the water again. The problem I am having this week is that the surgeon cannot tell me whether this problem is going to go away. I did have brain damage, and they can't tell with anything but time what will come back, and what won't. The other problem I am having is that my manager will not acknowledge that I am capable of doing anything less than I was before - so she is treating me as if I am slacking off. Thank you all for the prayers. I'm going to work and try to stop feeling sorry for myself. > > I have had 2 surgeries - the first time they found the > Cholesteatoma > > (the Surgeon and I both thought this was a simple repair of > > Otosclerosis). Guest guest
Hi .. Just had to reply (even though the message was for Melody!! - i'm a bit of an eavesdropper!)...Anyway send you manager to me and i'll sort him/her out!!! I know what you mean though it feels a bit like depression...if you can't physically see it (eg broken leg, flu etc...) Then it musn't be there for some (uncaring?) folk. I'm lucky - i hope - i feel i have supportive colleagues and manger in my job but still sometimes feel i'm 'slacking'..but that is my own guilt 'work ethic' feeling which i am working on getting rid of.. best wishes Virgilio <lvirgilio@...> wrote: Melody - the surgeon did a graft - one of the things he will be checking on Friday is how well it took. Guest guest
Hi Leigh I was banded at NWWLS on Sept 23,2004 and I remember drinking room temp water or even what my friend calls 'white tea' which is warm water. I still can't do ice water except in tiny sips or I will pb EVERY time. You can also drink Propel, herbal teas, anything except carbonated beverages. I tried a Mountain Dew this summer on a really hot day. 3 swallows and that was IT, the burping sounded like thunder and it did not feel very good either! I KNEW better, but....it won't happen again. Good luck, you are in great hands. C.
Guest guest
Hi there, I was banded on 8/4/08. I didn't had a bit of trouble drinking anything. I felt great the day of surgery. I was relesed near 3 PM and even went out within 1.5 hours of being released to Applebee's with my husband and Dad. We walked for 15 minutes before dinner and 30 minutes after. I did set my palm to remind me or wake me to take the pain medicine the first two days, and the liquid gel cap Aleve the next 2 days as needed. I traveled to Everett and stayed in a hotel the first two days, but I sure was happy to get home. I felt so good two days later I went to a big picnic. Everywhere I went I just carried my protein shake powder with me in case I couldn't get a clear broth soup. I got the Realize band and love, love, love it! I'm sure you'll do great. Be calm and positive! Attitude is everything! Best wishes! The phrase I kept saying to myself: " You're going to rock this surgery! Guest guest
Leigh If you drink room temperature water or warm tea or coffee it will be easier. Even warmed Crystal Light is good. Ice water is a problem for lots of bandsters, although, right now I am fine with it. Warm fluids feel good to your throat after surgery. Guest guest
I seldom post but read every day, Kathy! I too wonder about some of the ones we lost with a few years ago, but do enjoy the trip down vicariously with others!! Summer is busy, gardening ,painting the new(to us) house(contractor white in all rooms is just TACKY! LOL Dh is doing as well as expected. After transfusions feels good for about a week then we have one week of being worn out then the cycle starts all over again. We see the hemotologist tomorrow in Bremerton for a bone marrow draw. Life continues...I continue to battle the comfort eating demons. I love hearing your progress! And Corlis and others whom I can't think of right now. We ARE a SPECIAL sisterhood!!!! Take care\ C. Guest guest
C   Life captures all of us. Yours has those detours we would rather not have right now. Praying your husbands health improves. That is tough stuff.  I have been painting this summer, too. So far the living-dining-hall from blue to a warm golden tone and my daughters room from orange to bright teal. Now those were some major changes for us. I hate contractor white, too.  Yesterday gave away an old upright piano that was the biggest photo stand. Now need to hang my new picture frame system to get the family up on the walls. Oh, oh. This is sounding like work. Now I get to rearrange furniture and am clueless as to what I want to do. Time to call in my friend who has been dying to come help me. Kinda like needing to call on our friends here when something comes up in life.  Ok, I am rambling. It is good to be back in touch with you, C. Prayers and good thoughts go with you. Guest guest
I take it from reply postings that you are getting a break. Good for you! For Mother's day I asked for a very specific gift: " 24 hours, and 24 dollars " . Had dad take to spend the night at an uncles house, and got the WHOLE day off, with alittle spending money to crawl the local antique shops with. Guest guest
I, too, am having a THR next Monday, the 26th. I signed onto this group about a week ago and had felt rather discouraged by the horror stories. I'd been lurking and came close to unsubscribing to this group until today, when I was heartened by several of you doing so well after situations similar to mine. I'm in my 60's, was in good shape until I got in a severe accident 6000 miles from home two years ago, where had emergency surgeries for multiple fractures and couldn't travel home for six weeks. Two years later I'm still severely limited in my activities (can only walk short distances and forget the stairs!) and in a lot of pain due to the pins which had fused together so if they were removed there would be very little bone left. I finally decided to go for the THP which will be in two parts; one to remove the pins and a second incision for the ATHR. I'm feeling less scared after reading today's posts. We only have one ortho surgeon where I live (on a remote island) but he has a good reputation and has been using the anterior approach for several months now. Guest guest
You know part of the reality of discussion groups like this is some of us are here looking for answers to problems. You don't always hear from other members that are not having problems. I had my THR 5 years ago and am doing great. I too came here looking for information before my surgery and did receive a lot of help. I haven't visited here in years b/c everything has gone so well. I have only popped in recently b/c of a pain in my muscle, which has since gone away. Thankfully there are members that stick around to help out, it's too bad more of us aren't here to tell our non-horror stories. Best of luck to all, pain free is a nice way to live! - 55yrs old, THR 11/4/04 > > I, too, am having a THR next Monday, the 26th. Guest guest
Best of luck to you! Sounds like you've already had more than your share of trouble, and I pray the THR will improve your life as much as my THR improved mine!
