Guest guest
Vijay. What a horror set of events for your mother in law. I am assuming you are in the USA. Someone on here will come through to offer some help, but it sounds to me like she hasn't got any choice but to have the surgery. If she is in so much pain the rod is broken etc. Why can't she have the surgery where she is at the moment to save the ordeal of a big trip? Any way good luck. -- Fractured thigh bone and rod. Patient in great pain. My mother-in-law, now 76 years old has rheumatoid arthritis. Both her knees were replaced about ten years ago. She was doing quite well till about one and a half year ago. While visiting a bank locker, she twisted around when the lights went out suddenly. This resulted in a fracture of her thigh bone in the middle. She was operated after some delay as she had to travel by airplane. After a steel rod and screws were used to cure her fracture. After the surgery, there was a marked gap between the fractured bones. This was brought to the attention of the surgeon. But he told us that the gap will close over a period of time. About a year back, she lost her eldest son-in-law. This resulted in a big trauma for her. She had to travel away from her home to be with her daughter in grief. At present the steel rod is broken where the screws are inserted and the thigh bone is out of place- not in line and is broken. She is in great pain and doctor has suggested surgery to rectify the problems. We would be greatly thankful to anyone for comments or suggestions. Again she has to be brought to the best medical facility and has to travel by plane direct to the hospital for surgical intervention.
