Guest guest
Hello, the town of Jefferson,Tex (50 mi east of me) had their city water system shut down most of this past week due to Mercury in the bottom of a Municipal Water Tank. After retesting all week, NOW The EPA/Water Commission says it " Has acceptable amounts of Mercury in the Water, but to still not drink it for two more days, but it is ok to wash and bathe in it " .....From where I came from there is NO AMOUNT ACCEPTABLE! hires and Ozarka Water Companies kicked in via a Food Bank and sent a few truck loads of water AFTER all the neighborhood towns were vacated of all bottled water. There has been a citizen war going on with Ozarka, as they just pump the water out of deep wells, from the same Aquifer most of east Texas is pumping out of, including ourselves and selling it as Spring Water. After many lawsuites the big guys won and still sell it for spring water. My advice is know where your water comes from, have a few 5 gallon containers on hand at all times. Can use Foodgrade Hydrogen Peroxide as a safe prservative. Never fill water jugs using green or other colored (ie black) hoses. Only direct from the tap or use white hoses(like from the camper stores). My Mormon neighbors say the new bright Yellow hose has been declared safe too. (The green ones leave a chemical taste to the water). Liz At 12:41 AM 12/04/1999 -0800, you wrote: >Dear Friends, >Today in Federal Water Testing Certification prerequisite class I >watched 5 videos. Guest guest
Lloyd, Hi. I sell Ecowater Systems. They tell us we have the biggest and the best, it may be hype, I don't know and sure don't have the money to prove it. They spec our reverse osmosis filter at 1/1000th of a micron. What is your drinking water section, does it do this? I don't know who is Multipure? We may be cousins, I don't know. Godspeed, drpeppe@... Guest guest
Hi Wanda, It sounds like you are having a bit of a struggle. I have had the same problems in the past and I know how awful it can be. I found that when I started taking wormwood and black walnut that it helped tremendously. There is a book called A Cure for all Cancers. It is a bit radical and I could never follow everything, but the parasite program it recommends is excellent. I think that stomach discomfort like you describe can be caused by so many different things that it can be hard to pinpoint. Parasites can come from so many things, and it sounded totally yucky to me when I first heard it, but then as I thought of it, it made sense. I do take digestive enzymes with most of my meals too! It makes a huge difference. When I was dealing with my Dad's Cancer I was feeling stress that was tough to deal with, so it was especially bad then. I too St. 's wort and Kava Kava and it helped tremendously. Usually Life Lift is plenty for me, but because of my relationship with my Father, the thought of losing him and seeing him suffer was almost more than I could bear. I needed something extra. My stomach is what always takes the hit if I am feeling too much stress. There are some enzymes made by a company called Rainbo Lite that I have found to be excellent. I would also recommend that if you eat any dairy, and as I recall, I think you do, then you can buy the lactaid enzymes at your local drugstore. They will be in the area of digestive aids. I hope you feel better soon. I will certainly send you love and my prayers. Guest guest
I thought Dr. R preferred that we drink Gatorade or juices over water. Seems I remember him saying there is no nutrition in water, but in the Gatorade we at least get Potassium. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that's what I'd read or heard him say. in OK In a message dated 02/23/2002 9:54:16 AM Pacific Standard Time, dchirn@... writes: << Pat, Just be careful - while we all do need water and you are right about dehydration. Dr R also states that in MGB patients case - it is impt to make sure we get enough salt because of our malabsorption and potential for dehydration. We definitelly do not need 8 - 12 oz glasses per day because then we would not have any room for food. I try and drink 60 ounces per day at least and sip on water all through the day. It is funny but I crave the water and note that I prefer it over milk and juice because it is not sweet and it really quenches my thirst. But the juices have important vitamins and minerals that I also need and I only buy Minute Maid OJ that is Calcium fortified befcause we all know the impt of calcium - esp in women. Guest guest
You are exactly right. " Free Water " is not good for MGBers. You flush too much of the potassium and sodium from your system that you will feel weak and fatigued and in some cases dizzy and nauseaous. A little water is OK, but be careful. No, Diane, I am not 69, I am 73 and I didn't have smooth skin when I was 69 either. Glad to hear about your high water intake. How long have you had A? I had my first symptoms in September 2000. Was diagnosed in June 2001 I am not sure how long I have been drinking this much water, but I know it was prior to 1993. I remember after a surgery I had to measure water output after I came home and report it to the nurse every few days. When I called in the first time, she told me to come in and be checked because with that much output I could easily be losing electrolytes. I laughed and told her if I was then I would have depleted them long ago. I never drank water for any health reasons. I guess I just became addicted to water the way some people are addicted to coke. (Either kind ). So please forgive me if I join those who do not believe that water cures so many things. I do indeed think water is good for you but not the cure your Mr. Batman claims it to be. Guest guest
Hi to all, I have not posted for some time, but must speak out on the water situation. After my last endoscopy, the Gatrointerologist said, sip sparkling water before each bite UNTIL you have your surgery (which he felt was mandatory). That was three years ago, and with the intake of sparkling water when I eat, I am truly normal. Of course, I chew my food carefully, and don't leave such things as fat on meat ( I cut it off) and stay away from leafy vegetables i.e. spinach, unless it is chopped, and don't eat fried foods. I stopped posting a few months ago, as some criticized my talking about carbonation. I am sure it is not for all, but for those looking for immediate help, it is a lifesaver. It is possible that some day, it will no longer work for me, but until then ------ Marilyn in Beverly HIlls (I am 73 and have had A for 22 years)
Guest guest
, you hit the nail on the head. BRAVO!Debbi, feeling like just saying "Ditto to whatever says today" with all the brainwaving we've got going on! Diane, With all due respect, it seems to me with all your "research" you have very little knowledge of this disease. The "ring" or esophageal strictures aren't lesser versions of A, they are separate conditions. Just because the symptoms are the same doesn't mean they are related to each other in any way or have the same treatments. There are plenty of conditions/diseases/illnesses where the symptoms mirror each other. Hell, indigestion can feel like a heart attack. So far we have seen nothing about the possibility of A being reversed. And spasms are a symptom of A. Something that happens sporadically at any time of the day...could be when you're eating, could be when you're sleeping, could be when you're in the car driving to work....it's just something that happens. Some of us have a handle on it and some of us need to take meds to control it. I'm a lucky one, a few sips of water have it under control. But I find that some days, it recurrs all day long. If you truly think you have this disease, I suggest you do more research on the actual disease instead of looking up nutritional subjects on better eating. I agree, we all should eat healthy, drink plenty of water and that coffee, alchohol, chocolate and all that bad stuff that tastes so good should be kept to a minimum. Unfortunately, us achalasians cannot pick and choose what we want to eat, we choose what we can eat. This seems to be a concept you aren't grasping. Many people here have a lot of difficulty swallowing vegetables. It's not something we can control. Me, I'm 100 pounds and I eat whatever I can to keep from going under that. I went down to 98 a few months ago and thankfully have been able to maintain my now 100 weight. So if some chocolate can keep me from being 90 pounds, I'm going to eat it. I'm telling you this so you can understand this illness a little better. I meant no offense. , NYC

Right now, I am suffering from some condition that has caused extreme difficulty swallowing, and most foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, large chunks of meat, just seem to sit in my esophagus for long periods of time. Right now, at least at last Manometry study of my peristalsis and LES, showed all normal readings. And I've been to three different GI docs. So I seem to be in that not bad enough to be achalasia, not good enough to keep me from going from 165lbs last January, to 110 right now. It seems that there is wide spectrum of swallowing difficulties. For me, right now, there isn't any treatment that is targeted to my esophagus not working correctly. The last esophagram showed that the middle of my esophagus isn't pushing the food down. So for those of us not diagnosed with achalasia but having extreme difficulty swallowing, there isn't much hope. It's enough to make a person at their wits end. So, it is not a simple matter at all, very individualized. Jan in Northern Kentucky
Guest guest
Yes, Bravo . I knew, when I read your post, that Debbi wouldn't be far behind you with a " me too " " rub it in " message. And she calls this a support group? I don't think so. I unsubscribed earlier today and came on just to see if it worked. At any rate, I'm signing off. I never ever suggested I have much knowledge of this disease, but a heck of a lot more than others who DON'T have it. (Of which I am grateful). I wasn't sure if what I have is a lesser version of what you have; if they are related or if they are not. Now I know. B/C you said it. And if Debbi agrees, well then it HAS to be so. Thanks for all your so called support. No offense is taken by you , but Debbi has a major attitude. In one of her rude post she reffered to me as having " no clue " . IS that a nice thing to say to a member? Oh well, the oil flows from the head down. I must have struck a nerve somewhere alogn the line for her to take such a dislike to me. Guest guest
I dont know if you need that much water but I do know that water is the only liquid I drink now except for my 2 cups of coffee in the morning. You definantly are going to want water. You need to remember that after surgery you are going to have to take whats left home with you and you shouldnt be lifting anything heavy for awhile. I used to be a Diet Coke Junkie!!! LOL I havent had a diet coke since April 19th!! I bought one about 2 weeks ago and took 2 sips of it and threw it away. It didnt even taste good to me anymore. So this is a huge milestone for me!! Tammy I. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I have the same problem, I never want to drink water. I have to force myself and then I get an upset tummy.I have changed water from distilled (which I recently found out isn't good. guess it has no minerals so it takes them from the body. Anyone know about this? And Spring water, purified water....ugh!JackieOn Sep 7, 2006, at 5:39 AM, ladybugsandbees wrote:You are not drinking enough at all! You will not be thirsty if severely dehydrated. You will be tired, achy and your body will not detoxify the junk out. Your adrenals will struggle as well. You should be drinking at least 3 quarts a day - more if you are overweight. You should take your weight and divide it in 2. That is the number of ozs you should be drinking. I had to force myself to do it in the beginning. I didn't drink much all day. Cup of coffee and maybe some juice. Nothing other than that. I was very dehydrated when my Dr tested me. B.My Ebay Auctions: http://tinyurl.com/o9nqvMY SOY CANDLE STORE IS OPEN! COME VISIT:http://www.marloquinn.com/SoyScentsational
