Guest guest
Becca, the funnies are not the problem. It is just that all your friends and families addresses showed up, which opens them to spam. So when you send your funnies, just be sure to send it separate from the ones you send to others, then it will be fine. Also, be sure previous e-mail address are removed. Guest guest
Posting etiquette > Will not send funnies again. Becca: I don't think that's even a little bit of what Duff meant. It's in the addresses. Sending to the includes a lot of people, but when you add other names in the address line, it makes those people and the vulnerable. You can, however, safely include all those other names in your BCC part of the Sending Block. That way thos names do not appear when they are received. As for the funnies, I think they are an absolute necessity on this forum. If we are not laughing at something, we are left to our own thoughts, and that can be a scary thought by itself. The last time I had a thought of my own was when I saw a pretty girl walk in the room and had some not so nice, but very male ideas. The wife says I could get arrested for conspiracy to commit a foolingy. (I insisted i was a victim of gland theft.) On a serious note, the wife and I have been going through the legal steps to get guardianship of granddaughters (ages 8 and 3), and that's why I have become a lurker as of late. We were pretty much raising them already, so they are doing fine, but we now have to deal with th courts, child protective services and a few other bureaucracies. Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggghhhh! From California where my failure to housework as the wife told me to has made her sure that my device is a deafibrillator. Guest guest
I prefer to abstain completely from ever sending something forwarded to me to the Zaplist again. I have been a member of this group since 2002 and Jon Duffey ought to know by now that I would never do anything to jeopardize my relationship with the list. ly, I did not appreciate the tone of his email and he could have easily gotten in touch with me privately, instead of chastising me publicly like a child. So, my best defense is to just not post anything that is not directly connected with cardiac subjects. Guest guest
Becca; I hear what you are saying... AND I am glad you are in NC!!! Sad you are put out though... Maybe Jon has had a bad day or week, but you are right the tone of his posting could have been softer! You are always welcomed here no matter what the subject! I really enjoyed your funny! Good luck to you and and Happy Thanksgiving!!! ~guin RE: Posting etiquette I prefer to abstain completely from ever sending something forwarded to me to the Zaplist again. Guest guest
> > I apologize. I did not realize it was a problem. Will not send funnies again. No apologies necessary.. and please share funnies that you enjoy. With the way the economy, foreign relations, energy prices, and our own health is having a rough go right now... we need all the chuckles we can attract. Just be careful to strip out the email addresses of other recipients. Might be easier to highlight the relevant content... and copy (^ C) to buffer... and paste to a fresh email with only the address showing. I know you intended no problem... it's just that there is a world of internet predators out there who would sell their grandma if they could turn a buck doing it. Harvesting email addresses has sadly become a hot commodity among these crooks. Because of " raids " by these creeps on the ZapperBBS... I increased the security protocols and the main ramification has been another major drop in use of that forum. I just want to avoid the same thing happening here. BTW... thanks, Bill, for your humorous perspective on sleep disorders. More than a week after the second sleep study... and I still do not have the new hardware in the bedroom. Between the Medical Equipment suppliers... and the insurance company.... this has been a humorless nightmare.
Guest guest
I value the information everyone posts here. I find it helpful, informative, and I like that we can all support each other through our TKR or THR journies. However, I find it very annoying when people DON'T cut down what they are responding to. You often have to scroll through repeats of several peoples' posts, much of which isn't necessary to the response being given. I have included an example of what I am referring to. I am in no way singling out a particular person, as I find MANY people do what is shown below. The first part of what is below is 's response to Diane. She is responding to a particular question Diane had. Everything below the row of ************************* that I included is not necessary to the pertinent information being provided. I would REALLY, REALLY appreciate it if people could " clean up " the amount of information they leave in messages they respond to. It is comon group etiquette to do so. (The lymphadema group I belong to posts their posting rules regularly, and what I am asking for here is one of the rules there.) Thank you for your consideration. > Diane - I was at 136 at 3 weeks post-surgery. > > > > > ---- Original message ---- > > Date: Tue, 1 Dec 2009 08:30:09 -0600 > From: Diane Thornton <leftoutknitter@...> > Subject: Re: Re: [TKR] > Re: Thanks to all! > Joint Replacement > > >Andrienne and , what ROM did you have at 4 > weeks? **********************************************************************8 > > > >On Tue, Dec 1, 2009 at 8:24 AM, Bentley > <sbentley@...> wrote: > > > >> > >> > >> Hi Adrienne - I was hoping for a disabled > parking permit...but my OS (Dr. > >> Coon) does not think they are a good idea. Guest guest
Hi Donna, That's very kind of you, but if you have something to post then you shouldn't concern yourself about this. Anyone that objects to this practice can easily scroll past the " offending " posts. You, or the entire group, can benefit from your posts and you should not have to hold off from asking questions or posting comments on others questions. Thanks, Jeff ________________________________ From: Donna Rae <rae900@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Friday, December 4, 2009 3:15:06 AM Subject: Re: Posting Etiquette , I really appreciate what you have asked for. My problem is that I can't do what you have asked with my webtv. I can either post nothing or the whole thing but I have tried several times to find out how to post just parts of a post. I can't seem to do it. And I either have to retype the part I am referring to or hope someone can piece together the parts I am discussing. I wish I had an answer. I know I have friends who can do as you ask, but I can either not post or post and make you angry. I would not be posting on the other group you are discussing and that would make me sad as I enjoy posting. I will keep my posts to a minimum in an effort to comply with your request. Guest guest
Hi Donna, My post wasn't directly targeted at you. I want to apologize if I hurt your feelings. I don't have any experience with webtv, so can't provide any suggestions as to how to circumvent your described problems. There isn't any available by phone tech support, or e-mail support from your provider? I would much rather have you post (with everything attached) than not post at all. I would never want someone to NOT post because of this. All I ask is that for those people who can eliminate the un-needed text, to please do so. Guest guest
Donna, I get around this problem by not getting posts emailed to me, I sign up for " Web Only " on and just go to the group website to read any posts that interest me. I don't read the whole posts if they are too long or repetitive. Just a thought, Hollie > > Hi Donna, > My post wasn't directly targeted at you. Guest guest
Hi Hollie, Also if you are getting individual emails then the last message would be on top (if the poster is top posting which most on this site do) and if not interested you don't need to read down. I'm not certain but I think the concern is only if you get the daily digest.
