hi ,

Congratulations ! Now you are on the road to stereo listening. I

also wish the best for Jarom and Janet.

Do you have tinnitus like you did with your first surgery? I did for a

couple of days but it finally went away. It sounded like a pipe organ

playing a constant high c. I hope you relax and get plenty of rest. Tell

somebody to fix you some double chocolate crumble bars. Larry

Great to hear from you!!! We were all not so patiently waiting to hear how the

surgery went. Glad to hear that you received a good report from your surgeon.

When you have a chance to go through your mail, you will see how the others

faired. When you feel up to it, we are all anxious to hear about the rest of

your second journey. Rest is more important now, so we can wait. Regards.

Dolly Dolphin poke her head out of the ocean. I think I hear saying she

home!!

Oh boy, hopped out of the ocean, shake of the water from my body and flaps my

fins to 's home.

I knocked on her door, she opened the door, and I wrapped my fins very gently

around and gives her very gentle (((((((fins hugs))))))) and a gentle

beaks kisses on her nose. Now I tell her to RELAX for the rest of the weekend

and have good sleep.

Welcome back . was a very good boy while you were away.

Hey , you were supposed to give the steak dinner. Come on, fork it

over to her (my fins crosses on my belly and my tail is tapping the floor).

Dolly Dolphin :) putting up the bedcover to 's chin and give her a peck on

her forehead, hopped quietly out of her house and flapped/drove back into the

ocean

Hello everyone and Thank you for all of your prayers and replies to my

last post.

I came home last night...insurance said I was all better (yeah

right...LOL)the doctor wanted me to stay another day but insurance won

out and I said I was ok to go home. He was concerned with my blood

loss and low iron level. They put me on heavy duty iron pills and I

promised to take them. It was similar to last time ( blood level )and

I had to have 3 units of blood and then Sunday and Monday 2 units of

some iron product (IV). Said I was a few quarts low and then they

threw in the cans too! (ok I tried to make a funny...)

The left knee did much better then the right and I am so glad I did

it! He said it was worse then we thought...I had groves already being

made in the joint and my knee cap was ultra thin and grooving also.

I did 90 degrees on the machine with very little problems unlike

before with my right. Started on 40 and climbed each session..had 3

daily sessions of 2 hours each. Not waiting till my left knee was as

bad as my right made all the difference in the world..so anyone

thinking you'll wait till its ultra worse...I advice not doing

that.Makes recovery harder.

I am using a walker to get around, percacet (sp?) for pain, and rest.

Well been sitting long so I want to say goodnight and Good Luck to

those who are healing and waiting for surgery. It is worth it folks!

Welcome home Pam. Yeah, Insurance companies really know what is best

(not). I can imagine how nice it is to have all that surgery completed.

I go in for my right knee replacement at 1:45 today. Thanks for being

an inspiration. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Pam:

Just for the record. You tell the insurance company rep to buzz off.

And use the strongest language you think appropriate. Any questions

and I mean any that are related to you medical condition is between

you and your doctor and not some bean counter. I hope you understand

that. I would even consider writing to the state board that oversees

insurance companies about what you just told us.

I am with Kaiser on the west coast and had something similar happen to

me. This nice lady came to my room and introduced herself as the

patient care rep or something like that. Actually she was the bean

counter. It was the second day of my recovery and she proceeded to

tell me that I would be leaving tomorrow or the next day (can't

remember exactly drugs). It was a day earlier than I had read or

understood from my doctor about how long I would be at the hospital.

Because of my general mental condition (drugs) I did not have the

presents of mind to tell her to get out of the room (wished I had).

It came up the next day when another rep came by and restated the

leaving date one day early. To make a long story short I determined

that I would stay the extra day just to show them. The doctor asked

me on the day before I left if I wanted to leave that day. I told him

I would prefer to stay one more day. It was more because I needed it

than because of what they said, but believe me that was also in my

mind. I did complain to another staff member not from that office,

hospital rep, about what had occurred. Like I told you when and what

and how long care you receive is between you and your doctor and is

your decisions and not anyone else.

Health care is expensive and by God I am going to get my moneys worth

if and when I need it. To hell with profit. Now I feel better.

Well said Don! I had surgery a number of years ago (not joint

replacement). They tried to kick me out a day early. The problem arose when

they went to get me out of bed. As soon as I pivoted and hung my legs over the edge

of the bed, the nurse had me sit for a few minutes before trying to get up. The

second I stood up, even after getting used to being vertical, I about passed

out. My hubby was there and told the burse to get me back into bed ASAP. The

nurse took one look at me and pushed me back into the bed. She took my blood

pressure and it didn’t even read. She waited 10 minutes and took it again

and it was low, but OK. They then told the insurance people that there was no

way I could go home. So, you can also get the hospital staff to go to bat for

you. They care for you while you are there and probably have more insight in

your condition than your doctor.

I wish I would of thought of that....just didn't want to cause

problems and was very foggy with the meds and such. Was scared to go

home in some ways since my pressure was low..but I figured if I felt

bad once home I would roll into the ER and I am sure my doctor would

of readmitted me. In June when I had my RTKR, " Ms.bean counter " said I

could always be moved to another hospital since my time there was out.

I was having enough problems at that point...and if I could manage to

get to another hospital...I might as well go home.

I am doing ok...but CVS insisted they have not received my refill

(pain meds) message from my doctor Friday....(they did this before and

finally found out they,CVS, just goofed)so here it is Saturday night,

1 pill left and I have been weening my self down to 1 pill every 6

hours..I need 2 every 4 to feel my best. The snow is coming down in

blankets so I know I will not be going anywhere. Doc visit is not till

Monday morning.

(sorry to be venting here...just hurting)Didn't help I over did it

Friday..went to get my paycheck from work, ate lunch at Bob Evens,

then to Wal-Mart for a few items....boy was I wore out! And no I did

not drive! LOL I thought I would have pain meds for the week end and

my husband called CVS after 5pm as told by my doc office...and alas;

no meds and office is down till Monday morning!

Oh well...live and learn and change drug store ASAP! I guess I should

whine too much, I am doing so much better then last time; I am only 10

days post op!

thank you for listening to my venting.

There should be an on-call doctor who could phone in some pain meds for you. There is no reason to be in pain all weekend. If I were you, I would be looking in to that!! Hi Pam,

I'm glad you vented, but I dont see how you or anyone , 10 days post op can go without pain meds. There is a doctor within your OS's practice who is on call 24/7 and I wouldnt wait til Monday to be in contact with him....JMO...This is what they get paid so dang much for...and for your pharmacist to make some error like this is absolutely excusable!

I know they arent perfect, but you shouldnt have to suffer thru the weekend in pain cuz of their error...oh, well, I just had to vent too....Please call your doctor and get you some pain meds!!

I TOTALLY agree…there is NO WAY you should be without pain meds. I’m

surprised you didn’t get a 30 day supply…that’s pretty much

standard. If you don’t get anyone to call it in for you, go to the ER.

This is just not right!
