Guest guest
I liked Weil back before he got into " complimentary medicine " . Now he says it is OK to poison the body with chemo so long as one adds vitamins & herbs. Weil sold out to the Pharmaceutical industry. I do not believe him no matter what he says. Because it is a highly saturated fat - one of the few saturated fats that doesn't come from animals - coconut oil can raise cholesterol levels. In the past, coconut oil was widely used in movie popcorn, candy bars and commercial baked goods, but has been phased out of many of these products due to consumer concerns about the health effects of consuming tropical oils. While there is still debate about the hazards of dietary saturated fats, using cosmetic products containing coconut oil is another story. Although I prefer skin care products with natural anti-inflammatory activity, some components of coconut oil have been studied for their benefits to both skin and hair. The lauric acid found in coconut oil is available in a wide variety of skin and hair care products, including body and facial cleansers, soap and sunscreens. Clinical research supports the safety of these products in general, and the utility of coconut oil to help moisturize skin in particular. > > See: http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/TIP03709/A-Healthy-Way-To-Use-Coconut-Oil.html >

Guest guest
Dr. Weil is not an alternative doctor. He is a fraud who makes a living straddling the fence and is lost in the fog.. This is just one of many examples of his ignorance. Port City Organics wrote: > > > Usually I agree with this alternative thinking doctor!!! Guest guest
Never liked him... what did you see in him Alobar??? I always saw him as a charlatan who talked out of both sides of his mouth. Guest guest
I stopped listening to Dr. Weil years ago---he was a " novelty " in alternative medicine when alternative medicine first started getting any press, but after awhile, some really good alternative docs started saying some really good alternative things and it made Dr. Weil seem more tied to mainstream--with just a " little twist " ........ I put him in the same category as Dr. Oz---I do see benefits of both of them---to people who are starting from a place of not caring or knowing anything about good health at all, they at least get a message of learning basics, but for those in the know, we realize there are more steps to be taken along the path called " alternative " , natural, and good for you----and mainstream medicine for me is still just one baby step beyond saying vitamins are okay....(smile).... Guest guest
Jim, I remember when Dr. Weil first started---it was he who got me interested in any sort of what was known as an alternative approach........I don't think he is a bad person, I don't think he is a charlatan, I just think I (and many others like me) have evolved to a better place than he is right now.........You know, having different opinions really is a good thing! It inspires us to all think as we choose. He is good for those people like me when I first started being aware----I live in a community of over 55's----I am the only one in my village who even knows what homeopathic is, who uses coconut oil (when I mentioned that to my neighbors they all think it's bad for you like Dr. Weil says)........ learning is a process, and you have to begin somewhere.......for me it was Dr. Weil.......he started me on a journey of questioning medical authority---it was a good thing and I am very grateful........he did such a good job of instilling that in me, I went even further into alternative medicine and that is my primary form of care now.............. So don't put him down so harshly---he has served a purpose and will continue to inspire people who need inspiration, and then (hopefully) will also go further beyond him (smile).....He gets you to thinking, which a lot of people don't.... Blessings, Margaret A man is what he thinks about all day long...Great men are they who see that the spiritual is stronger than any material force, that thoughts rule the world.... Ralph W. Guest guest
I have read that he sold out to the establishment long time ago. I used to read/follow his info duringthe 90's. I believe the American Soy Association got to him. It was the Soy Association that put out the propoganda smeare campaign in the 60's that convinced the manufacturers to go with their cheaper, processed and contaminated oils. You should read how it is processed. Cheers, Doug From Dr. Weil's website!!! Usually I agree with this alternative thinking doctor!!! But... read this! Coconut oil has no positive role in a healthy diet. Because it is a highly saturated fat - one of the few saturated fats that doesn't come from animals - coconut oil can raise cholesterol levels.
