Guest guest
Hey All, Well, I had booked my bilateral surgery way back in February, and I am now five days away. I stopped my Diclofenac and other drugs that help me function today. I am ready for it, but none-the-less petrified. It is all of the uncertainties that makes me the most crazy. I am not sure how many of you had both knees replaced the same day. I am assuming walking will be scary and unstable at first, but I am thinking things that involve up and down will be the hardest. Stairs, chairs, toilets, etc. I have had all of my pre-op appointments and I completed a 4 visit " Prehab " program. I have given my 2 units of blood (no ill effects from that). I have my walker, canes, commodes, and other goodies to help me " function " . I just made two small lasagnas to freeze for either when I come home, or when I am gone for my husband and daughter. I don't really have good help for when I come home. My husband is fairly uselss and my daughter won't be able to be here very long - just a couple days. So I have set up a " mini kitchen " of sorts upstairs. I have a small fridge, small microwave, and I will have some easy things to make, snacks, drinks, etc., up here. My computer, bed, and shower are all upstairs, so I think it is where I will mainly hang out initially. I also bought myself a 10 " netbook to take with me to the hospital and rehab. I am NOT a TV person, so keeping up with e-mails and the internet are more entertaining for me. It was my only " treat " for ME. I have two more band concerts (I am the concertmaster) tonight and tomorrow night, then that is done. So things are moving along, assuming I do not get sick, and my surgeon stays well, too. Perhaps I will try to write before Thursday when I go in. I will try to give you updates after my surgery. Thanks for any last minute advice you may have. in PA Left THR - 2008 Bilateral TKR - 7/22/2010
