Confused. I am beginning to wonder if I did enough homework before I had my TKR surgery. Not that I am second guressing now, but I never heard of quad sparing until I read this forum. I was told my surgery was computer assisted minimally invasive, but I have a pretty long scar. How minimal is minimal? Did any of you have the same? [Total_Joint_ Replacement] Re: What Surgery? Confused. Does Dr. Su do TKR as well as THR? I am in Scranton Pennsylvania , was scheduled to have BLTKR Feb. 1st, but had to delay it as I broke my elbow. My OS is regarded as the best in his field in this area, he does MIS, but when I asked if it is quad sparing, he said no , the tendons are not cut but separated during the surgery.but the surgery is minimally invasive. Anyone have any information on Dr. Su and TKR's? Thanks.. Karla
Guest guest
Joan, I will catch you on Facebook. I have been sick with the flu (I call it H2N2). Lots to catch up on with both of us. Re: [Total_Joint_ Replacement] Re: What Surgery? Confused. I have been using cocoa butter 5-7 times a day! My scar is no way near disappearing, and I have ordered Cica care, which was recommended by a nurse friend of mine, for it. One of the worst things is that I can't wear jeans! The rough material is a killer! I have three close friends who have had this surgery, and none of them have had this problem. I know that, according to everyone! that three months is not long enough. But I have had enough! I still fell I was better off before. At least it only hurt in one place. Now I hurt in three! Thanks for your concern. All the best, Joan ____________ _________ ________

Guest guest
I live in the Los Angeles area and was on a Medicare HMO, Secure Horizons in 2009. I really didn't have much of a choice of doctors under SH since no doctors or hospitals that I talked to/wanted would accept Secure Horizons. So, I chose the famous doctor (who I think you are referring to) in Santa , Dr. Matta. I was able to scrape together his fee and by switching from Secure Horizons to original Medicare the hospital was paid for, less an $1100 Medicare co-payment. I am more than happy with the results and wanted to share another possibility for those who are considering hip replacement without the proper insurance for the doctor they want.
