I too have been confused about the distilled water thing. Some people sware by

it and others say it is bad for you to drink all the time. I drink micro water

every day but I use the distilled water when I

am cleansing. I have read that distilled water is good for cleansing because it

will bond with the toxins and flush them out of the body quickly. I have also

read though that if you use it all the time

that it will rob your body of essential minerals. The other side of that

argument is that the distilled water only removes the minerals that are too big

for your body to use. I would like to see some

research on that myself. In my (uneducated) opinion if it will remove a big

calcium particle it will also remove a small one. That is just my opinion.

Rain is distilled water untill it hits the ground. Or that is it used to be. The

reason it is called acid rain is that it has gathered polution on its way down,

or the dust particles that the rain formed

on were particles of acid polution, and is no longer a nutral ph. In the past

people used to gather rain water in wood barrels (which would also change the ph

of the water) that they used mostly for

washing.

I don't know what kind of chemicals they use there but here the tap

water has many chemicals in it and runs through pipes that have been soldered

with lead. The ph of the water is such that it will not rot the pipes and

is neither good nor bad for you to drink or wash in since your inside needs

a higher ph and your skin needs a slightly acid ph.

In walkerton ontario there were many deaths caused by contamination

in the water. Many other people will have health problems the rest of their

lives because of this.

One of the wells was contaminated with e-coli and spread through the

whole system.

The town was devistated. The government did a study after this incident

and found the potential for problems in other areas was high.

We use similar technologies as the US. What does that tell ya.

Filtering your water does not remove the e-coli but the water that I use

is Micro-

water and it is pre treated to kill any harmfull bacteria. Filtering

the water will

however, remove the lead and other contamination such as chlorine

etc...

Whatever authorities tell you about municipal watre, is only 1/2 true.

bad sides of all municipal water are:

- chlorine

- other additives (different from country to country)

Water is usually tested before it eneters tubing.

Tubing can sometimes be over 10 or 20 km long, before it eneters your home or

office, or restaurant where you eat.

Old tubes are made of concrete, often with mineral fibers like glass wool or

asbestos.

Most old towns didn't change big part of old tubes.

New tubes, (placed in last ~20 years) are made of hard plastic, and are suppose

to be toxin-free after few months of use.

Water tubing inside buildings is usually made of copper, or zinc, or lead, or

other metals, depend on country and time.

Those metals are not 100% clean, and can be poluted with other metals.

Plastic tubes are used in last 10 years, rarely.

All metal tubes pollute water.

Most municipal water is poluted with:

1. Chlorine (kills beneficial bacteria, causes candidiasis > causes Leaky Gut >

causes Allergies, MS, FMS, CFS, ADD, Aczema, Psoriasis, Acne, Arthritis,

Hypothyroidism, CFIDS, Cancer, AIDS, .... )

2. Fluoride (essential mineral that if overused becomes toxic, causing bone

problems, brain problems, behavioral problems, Osteoporosis, Hypothyroidism,

OA, ...)

3. Azbestos or other mineral fibers (Mineral Fibers Are not toxic chemically,

mineral fibers are toxic physically. Mineral fibers can hardly get out from our

body, and are often triggering tumors and other diseases)

4. Metals (copper, zinc, lead,... usually becomes toxic after years of overuse

)

5. Parasites, bacteria and viruses

6. Other polutatnts (solvents, ...)

Best way to avoid toxins is to use good filter, with activ carbon.

Destilation cen remove most but solvents.

Cooking can remove some toxins (chlorine, solvents, living creatures, ...)

There are thousnds of different filters and technologies to improve water.

Non filtrated Tap water is the bottom on the quality scale.

Can uranium and/or arsenic be filtered from tap water?

I don't know. They say that good (read expensive) filter (active carbon +

reverse osmoses) takes most out. But, who really knows ?

They can say many things, just to sell.

Taste is also important, for me.

Reverse osmoses purified water tastes similar to destiled water.

Generaly, very tasty, about 10 times better taste then municipal water.

But, stll the best taste , (my opinion), (and the most expensive) is water

from the 5 or 10 liter container, from Osa or Imsdal springs in Norway.

Well, I stand corrected. Some rainwater is probably the closest, in

nature, to distilled water . But collecting the rainwater may introduce

other stuff. And we all know that some rainwater is " acid " (from

pollution) while distilled water is pH neutral (so what is in the acid

rainwater - sulfuric acid, et al?). I don't think there is anything wrong

with adding Celtic sea salt. However, the result will not be that similar

to mineral/spring water. It will be similar to the water in the ocean

though. Obviously one big difference would be the amount of sodium but

there would/could be other large differences in types and amounts of

minerals/elements, etc. I think I would want to learn the differences

between spring/spa water and ocean water to see what things are in each and

what is missing from one that is found in the other. That way I can make

an educated decision on which one to have and in what amount. But just on

the face of it (and without further research) I'd opt for drinking

spring/spa mineral water and eating Celtic sea salt separately.

Thanks for stirring the old brain cells - more things to find out about. ;-)

Just my 2 cents: I have been drinking distilled water for several

months, and just last month finally got a counter top distiller from

Sears and love it! I take a daily multi-mineral to make up for the

loss of any minerals in the water. If people could see what is left

in the distiller after running through the cycle they would not allow

it into their drinking glasses or cooking pots.

Candace, lucky you to get one on Ebay, I had to get mine new from

Sears. Not cheap, but worth the investment.
