Joan:

I read somewhere (sorry, I'm not a mondo researcher like some people-no offense

intended, you people with time and expertise) that casein/gluten sensitivities

can be mimicked by yeast overgrowth.

I " cleared " my allergies by using the BioSet technique from Dr. Ellen Cutler

(book The food Allergy Cure  Ellen cutler M.D.; Three Rivers Press-got the book

from Amazon). you need to purchase a set of food allergy vials, and this is a

muscle-testing technique. You can do this by yourself, but my husband helped me.

While I cannot eat gluten/dairy with total freedom, I can consume some in

moderation (still take digestive enzymes with meal as extra insurance). Before

the allergy clearing, I would ache for days and have digestive distress for 2-3

days. Now, I still have aches and distress;not as severe, and only about 12

hours. I'd say that's an OK trade  to have gluten/dairy once in awhile (I had

some rolls at Thanksgiving and it was a nice treat). Hope this helps.

Laurie

Coconut Oil

Subject: RE: Re: 7 day coconut oil detox

I had Genova Diagnostics Comprehensive Stool Analysis....so helpful....they even

gave three different methods of treatment from most " natural " to most effective

drug treatment and suggestions in between.

Thank you for the offer of kefir and or grains at cost, but I avoid kefir in all

forms.  Kefir has uncontrolled yeasts and yeast is another one of my

sensitivities.  I make a flat, non-yeasted bread with spelt and have made some

positive progress with adding gluten into my diet with no ill effects.

I use probiotics and have good result with feeding them inulin.  I also make

coconut yogurt using probiotics.  I have made good gains healthwise with this

method.  I now can tolerate So Delicious coconut yogurt as it contains S.

Thermophilus, L. Bulgaricus, LRhamnosus, L. Acidophilous, Bif. Bifidum, and Bif.

Animalis.

In the last four years I have made four attempts to add some perceived " safe "

form of dairy back into my meal plan with no positive results so I have resigned

myself to life without it.  Hidden dairy causes me great digestive distress.  My

detox system remains compromised from its gargantuan efforts to rid my body of

the yeast toxins so I eat with care.  At this point I believe it is not just

lactose that is the issue, but casein (the protein) that is causing problems.

Thank you again for the offer,

Joan

      Joan,

I much appreciate your thoughts.  You have obviously thought quite a lot about

the gut and its health.  I am glad that things look much better today for you.

The test you mention.  Is that the regular cultured 2-3 week stool test, or is

that something different?

I have heard people overcome dairy intolerance using kefir and kefir grains.  I

am giving it to you at cost.  I know that each case is different.  Dom kefir's

site (that's how you can find it) talks about it.

I'll report back.  Today after 10 TBs and 12 hrs in, I am still surviving.  Some

nausea, cold body and that's thankfully it.

thanks Laurie,

I had severe leaky gut and a rare form of yeast. I am still healing from leaky

gut. I was sick for a very long time because I followed a popular online candida

diet instead of using antifungals....in the end antifungals were truly needed

along with diet to start my recovery.

Food sensitivities are hallmark of leaky gut so I concentrate on healing the

damage. I feel my sensitivity to both yeast and dairy are directly related to

the homemade monzerella with geotrichium yeast. Gluten is not a problem for me

any more although I do not have it often.

I no longer ache, but my reactions to dairy just continue to become more

severe...itching, headaches, diarrhea.

I work with a naturopath and have made great gains. Digestive enzymes are truly

my friends. We have talked about similar allergy clearing, but so far I am

happy with the current plan as colonoscopy and endoscopy still show significant

inflammation.
