Guest guest
Hello all. Re: " not everyone has funds or the availability of a proper massage therapist " ...Lest you think I'm rolling in dough, my husband has been unemployed for almost 18 months; I only work casually as a sub teacher; and I pay for my massages by doing private tutoring. (And he charges $60/hour)We are on an extremely limited budget (don't eat out, go to movies, have cable)-so I guess I can afford regular massage as a luxury. My other luxury is two cats (they keep me warm at night, in my 60 degree house!) Although " proper " is a good word-not all massage therapists are any good! And you are right-things aren't always simple; and maybe I have an aversion to painkillers because they essentially don't work for me. Whatever works for you and makes you feel better is obviously your choice. Sometimes I think this group gets a little " tetchy " on posts-especially involving the long ones talking about research and conflicting reports. Kinda like politics--we all have our opinions, some very strongly held-so we can agree to disagree, and stay on track to keeping ourselves and loved ones happy and healthy. I know what it's like to work while in terrible pain, and it ain't a picnic. It colors your whole world a murky grey/violent purple. I too, must work if I want to eat/keep my house. What is your job? Not everyone has the funds or the availability of a proper massage therapist...and I have been seeing one, to no avail. I'm just trying to manage my pain well enough to go to work. A healthy liver (and I doubt a few days worth of taking some pain killers) will do me no good if I am unable to support myself. Just curious...how much do you charge, or do other massage therapists charge, in your area? I've already spent hundreds on this injury, and I'm still in pain, and I'm seeing the best person in my area. There does come a point when someone may have to try pain killers. That's just the reality. Being self employed, if I don't go to work, my income ends, and it suffers for weeks, or months, as I loose customers. All I'm saying is that sometimes things aren't always simple...nor was my choice to try pain killers. M. > But it still amazes me that when speaking of muscle & soft tissue dysfunctions, >especially due to lack of maintenance which leads to overload, thus pain, spasms > & minimized range of motion, that nobody considers deep tissue massage therapy! ------------------------------------
