Subject: what is your favorite cough and cold remedy?

Hi Everybody,

I have been sick for about a week now. I woke up this morning and my eyes were

practically glued shut. I have never experienced that before. I applied a warm

compress to clean the goo and wonder what else I could do. My left eyelid is

very puffy and both eyes are red, so I guess that means I have conjunctivitis.

My most annoying symptom has been a dry cough. And of course I have the usual

nose blowing that comes with a cold.

So I am wondering what remedies you use for these ailments? Any suggestions are

greatly appreciated. I couldn't do oil pulling effectively because of the cough.

Cheers,

Sherry

I would suggest for the your throat, Buckwheat Honey, One tablespoon, hold it in

your mouth for about 30 seconds then swallow, repeat as necessary. Buckwheat has

an unusual taste, unlike conventional honey. Try to always source Honey from

farms in the area you live in, although this is not a necessity.

For the eyes, a warm facecloth (or cotton makeup removal pads), gently wiping

away from the inner corner to the outside of the eyes, you could also use a very

weak solution of s Baby shampoo (as this does not sting the eyes), this

will help kill and dislodge any bacteria. Be sure to discard/disinfect carefully

so as not to infect others.

Hope you feel better soon

My 2 favorites are Echinacea Tea for the natural way and Alka-Seltzer for

medicine. I usually only take 2-3 cups of Tea or Alka Seltzer and my cold/flu is

usually gone or greatly cleared up. I bought the Echinacea Tea at Kroger grocery

store. The triple strength probably works best although I believe I used the

regular strength.

1) Yogi Tea - Green Tea Triple Echinacea

2) Alka-Seltzer Plus - Cold & Cough Formula

I normally take ~25,000 IU of D3 all winter. When I feel the onset of

a cold or flu I up my daily dose to ~40,000 IU for a week. I also

take vitamin C solution on my drinking water. If my stools start

getting hard, I up my daily dose of C from 15 grams up far enough that

my stools are loose but not runny.

Should also for as a cure, as well as for prevention. Vitamin C

works on bacterial problems and D3 works on viral problems.

I never use cold remedies which dries up mucous. That just hinders

the body from expelling bacteria and viruses. I never take something

to bring down a fever unless the fever is up over 102.

In light of basing any negative reactions the body has to a root cause, could

it

just be that you are trying to supplement without realizing first that your body

might need to be cleansed before it can properly absorb this vitamin? Just a

thought.

Interesting reaction to D3. I commonly take 5-10,000 iu during

winter and Alobar reports that he takes more. When anyone in my

family gets a cold or cold onset, I have them take 40-50,000 iu.

I have never had or heard of a single negative reaction and have

no clue as to what is causing yours.Interestingly, your reaction

sounds like what occurred in the insane asylum in the '3o's when

the inmates were taking 120,000 iu/day. Certainly, 30x dose would

make a huge difference... but then we are all different.

My question to the group: Has anyone else here experienced a negative

effect from D-3? I'd be interested in hearing.

Regards,

Jim

I'm astounded that people can take that much. I take 3000 per day. I have

found if I go up to 4000 per day I get discomfort in my lower legs at night.

Any idea what the cause of that would be?
