Guest guest
You and your daughter will do great, Billie! The band works good...but the real change takes place in your heart and you already have that figured out. You will be spoiled-for-life once you experience the compassion, professionalism, and facility cleanliness of your experience with Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos. My prayers of joy go with you. -drjimMs Ellis <ejdcc@...> wrote: Good Luck to you both and keep in touch!!! Dani in MO Billie Branham <billiebranhamsbcglobal (DOT) net> wrote: So this is it! Guest guest
Thank you very much for the reply and your prayers! It really means alot to hear the positive words from others who have gone through this. It seems there is no one who has a negative thing to say about Dr. Aceves, his staff, or the hospital. This is very reassuring! My daughter told me tonight that she went to a friends house today and her friend told her grandparents about the upcoming surgery. The grandfather asked my daughter where in Mexico she was getting the surgery done. When she told him Mexicali he told her that this is a very very dirty place, more so than Tijuana, and he wouldn't be surprised if she dies while there. I just want to go strangle this man! I told my daughter he is ignorant like many others, making judgements about something and someone they really know nothing about, just because it's Mexico. She said she isn't worried, because she knows I wouldn't put her in that kind of situation. So prayers are definately appreciated!! Billie So this is it! Guest guest
Grandpa couldn't BE more wrong. He's just playing mind games with her.The plastic surgeon I really prefer is in Tijuana, but that city is so filthy and yicky I am set on going to Mexicali because it's safe there. Most border towns don't have a great reputation but I'm telling you, Mexicali is an exception to that rule. The Mexican gov't have their army stationed in TJ for a reason, it's because it isn't safe. They don't have that problem in Mexicali. Grandpa is full of himself. He's talking as though he really knows. I'll bet you IF he ever has been to Mexicali he can't even remember what it looked like.I go out walking by myself at night. I wouldn't do that if it was a trashy little town. Sounds to me like Grandpa has a problem with all of Mexico, not Mexicali. On Nov 28, 2007 10:19 PM, Billie Branham <billiebranham@...> wrote: Thank you very much for the reply and your prayers! Guest guest
I have been lurking for awhile, reading the posts with great interest, waiting for my turn in the surgery queue. And now I know I will have my first THR (left bone-on-bone hip) 6/12/09! I'm a well-cared-for Kaiser client, self-employed, so I'm glad to have this insurance. There are some limitations, however. My surgeon, whom I've met, does several hundred THR's per year. He only does an anterior-lateral approach, so my incision will be on the side of my hip. It is still less invasive than the posterior approach. I'm going for the spinal anesthesia with sedation, as I've had general before and wound up with a gawd-awful sore throat from the tube down the throat. That was more miserable than the post-op pain! I'll get the right hip done 3-6 months later, when my immune system has recovered enough from the first surgery. I use etodolac as an antiinflamatory. It's the only one my GERD stomach tolerates. In the past month or so, nights have become more difficult even though I take an oxycodone and flexeril. Something about lying down creates all sorts of roving referred pains and muscle spasms in both my legs (left is worse). I've learned the hard way that I can't go grocery shopping or run errands the way I used to, and my husband has stepped up to taking over my usual running around. Last week I tried the electric cart at our local Costco, which was a lot of fun--until it started to run out of juice. Someone had to push me through the checkout line and out to my car! Thankfully I have a good sense of humor. Even though some folks have had terrible experiences, I'm encouraged by those of you who are on the other side of your surgeries and enjoying your lives. I hope to be one of the success stories long before this time next year! Alice
Guest guest
Hi Alice, Have you looked into hip resurfacing surgery? There is an excellent doctor in the Kaiser system that does them and you can go out of your immediate area to go to him. Feel free to email me offline and I can get you in direct contact with him. vickymm@ comcast.net, just delete the space. Where do you live? Dr. Klug is in Roseville, CA, up by Sacramento. Patients have flown to him from Colorado. You can see a video interview of him here. http://www.surfacehippyinfo.com/Video-Interviews/20090208373/Video-Interviews/Dr\ ..-Raphael-Klug/menu-id-46.html He is hands down THE Kaiser doc to go to for hip resurfacing. Every patient I have sent to him has had excellent results and are extremely happy. Guest guest
Hi Vicky, Thanks for your suggestion. However, my hips are both too far gone for resurfacing. Too bad, but, believe it or not, it was only this winter that it occurred to me there was more going on than cold-weather joints! Last year was just crazy job-wise, so I guess things turn out the way they have to. I'm just looking forward to getting rid of the endless varieties of pain and discomfort.
