Guest guest
Duncan, your use of cyst(e)ine is confusing to me. Why are you using (e)? Is cyst(e)ine the same as cystine? Or it is cysteine that is unstable and toxic as you used to say? Please clarify. -------------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@... - Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education; Life Member, Nutrion Soc. Guest guest
Hi Ratan, I use the term cyst(e)ine to indicate the cysteine I refer to is in the bioavailable forms, rather than saying " cystine and other cysteine-containing amino acids but not free form cysteine which is handled as a toxin " Cystine is cysteine=cysteine joined in a covalent bond. In this form it's bioavailable and not a toxin.
