Guest guest
Good news! (at last, you must think, after all my tales of woe...) I'm back from hospital today, sore and tired, but with a successfully completed second stage revision after having my infected hip removed in March. The antibiotics and first surgery did their job, all the biopsies came back clear, and I now have a shiny new modular proximal femoral replacement. (i.e. hip and top half of femur is metal, with a prong that goes down through the lower half of the femur). That went in on Monday morning. The x-rays look amazing! (Hopefully I'll have copies of those soon to share, because I've not turned up anything on line that looks like mine yet.) The long written-up version of this past week is here: http://heyokish.livejournal.com/64297.html I have 6-8 weeks of non-weightbearing ahead of me, and more blood tests in 4 weeks or so to confirm that the infection is truly gone and not in hiding. with thanks for your support over the past few scary months katie
