I posted some pictures of in a folder I called....KYLE! Creative

huh?? 2 are ones we took of the top of his head. One is just a

grinning that was really cute!

You know, and too all that responded to me before, I don't know if

this doctor would be manipulating the plates in 's head but I

can't see where spinal manipulation would do anything and that's the

kind of thing he does.

But I still don't like him and will stand my ground!!

I took my son to a chiropractor when we noticed him always turning his head to one side. He had 2 adjustments and it did help a bit but that did not help the flat spot--seemed to just loosen his neck up a bit.

I have to ask, what the heck does having seen worse have to do with

anything? That's a pretty offensive thing to say, in my opinion. Your

PD is dealing with YOUR child, not the child she saw last week or

last month. She needs to deal with HIS issue and not compare him to

others just to get you out of her hair.

I'm a little sensitive on this because I was told the same thing

about my son. I'm sure they had seen worse. So what? Turns out they

just didn't want the HMO to pay for a helmet. Stick to yer guns, and

go with yer gut. Dr. X sounds freaky. There may be other doctors who

can do manipulation (it's called craniosacral therapy and some plagio

moms swear by it). Helmets have been scientifically proven, though--

probably your best bet if repo doesn't work. Good luck.

None of my son's facial features are distorted either. It is just the

back of his head that is flat. He is getting his band tomorrow!

Hi ,

I moved 's photos into a folder titled V and it's in the Our

plagio kids folder. He is a cutie, what a little doll, thanks for

sharing his pic with us. From the looks of his head, I'd say he does

have plagio.

Hello ,

Welcome to the group.

I looked at 's pics, and he is adorable. I also do think that he

has plagio. At his age you can try agressive repo, and see if you

have sucess with that. Meanwhile you can see if you can grab an

appointment with a specialist to see about the severety of his

plagio. Take wkly pictures so you have something to compare to.

Oh, and if you do not like Dr. X, than I would certainly not take him

thre.

Hi ,

My daughter Mia had surgery in July aged 4 and we explained to her that she was going in for an operation to make her eyes bigger and she was fine about this. We had no problem taking her and settling her in to hospital as she knew she was going and that mummy was staying with her. Also the fact that lots of friends and family came to visit her was a great help. Occassionally she would have a question about the operation but we would try and answer as simply and truthfully as possible in order for her to understand and not be frightened. She was absolutely fine and loves her new eyes.

In addition I also had my first operation at 3 and all I remember was receiving lots of presents and kind nurses.

Thanks

blepharophimosis Question

Hi All,I have a question for anyone who has had experience with a preschool aged child who was going to have surgery. My daughter just turned three and is scheduled to have surgery in about three weeks. What I was wondering was, did you tell your young children what was going to happen or just go (to surgery)and let them be none the wiser? is pretty smart but it still might be hard for her to comprehend what was really going to happen. Any advice?God BlessThanks,

Dear Joan,

There is always a stiffness if the dosage is to strong. I would wait a while longer and try it again. If it happens again maybe your right dosage would be the 3.0. I took a little bit stonger the other night and my stiffness was just a little bit so I still stayed at that dosage and the next day I was fine. Just remember that we are all different so your dosage may always be at the 3.0. Dr. B says that some people have enough at the 3.0. Maybe in a month or so you can try it again.

Good luck Sweetie and hang in there. As long as the 3.0 is working that is good.

For some people that tight feeling does eventually go away. For some it does

not. I stretched my calf muscles daily in the pool and in about 7 days that

tight drawn up calf feeling left me for good but I still stretch those muscles

every day.

Hi Joan, Your results after taking 3.5 leads me to believe you should stick with 3mg for a longer period before attempting 4.5. I was at 3mg for 8 months before my body told me it was time to move up to 4.5. Are you getting results from taking 3.0? It's amazing what our bodies can tell us, don't rush into the next dose. You'll know when you're ready! Good luck

Patti, you have to deal with that infection first before your body can

benefit from the AP for your arthritis. I believe Dr. Brown says you can

safely stop the Minocin without losing any ground for up to a month.

Hope you're feeling better soon,

Guyz,

I regularly go off AP to give my digestive tract a break and I am slowly

getting better. My flares have been less and less problematic over the last

year. I have explained my probably flawed theory here before but logically

it makes more sense than a continual assult on your entire being.

If you think that taking acidopholis pills while taking mino is gonna make

things right you are only fooling yourselves. Every dose that you take

requires quite a bit of time to leave your body. In fact when you are doing

the MWF thing it is very likely that the only time your body is getting any

kind of break is sometime late sunday and even then there is probably a

small amount of it actively doing it's job.

I have been off it for weeks before just to get what I call lava (insert

your favorite name for excrement) to go away. If I stay on mino for months

without a break, which I have before, I can't eat without feeling just plain

horrible and getting a very itchy, raw and painful butt crack. There are

other symptoms that arrise while on it long term that go away when I take a

break such as numb feet, constant indigestion, painful muscle groups that

have done no recent heavy lifting, popping and clicking jaw joints.

The list of things is too long to bother with here at the moment but rest

assured that living constantly on mino without giving your body a break is

definately not good JMHO.

This last description sounds like it could be herxing. If so, you may want

to reconsider your therapeutic gut breaks, and what looks like it may be a

very limited approach to replenishing beneficial ggut bacterium.

The published pharmacology for minocin reveals the circulatory life of the

drug. For example, within minutes after injection of 200 mg IV, the serum

level of the drug averaged 4.10 mg/mL, but 12 hours later it had dropped to

1.8 mg/mL and at 24 hours it had dropped to 1 mg/mL. Averages don't tell

the whole story, of course, as the test levels ranged from 0.82 to 2.64

mg/mL at the 12-hour point; there are huge individual differences.

Read the monograph here for more details:

http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic2/minocyclineinj_cp.htm

You will note from reading the group posts and FAQ that acidopholis pills

are not recommended for repopulating beneficial gut bacterium. The human

gut hosts well over 50 distinct beneficial bacterium, of which L.acidopholis

is but one. Included in the list of beneficial bacterium are those passed

exclusively through being nursed at birth, and others which enter the gut

via raw vegetables such as salads. Additionally, although minocin will have

a negative impact on gut bacteria while " in contact " in the digestive tract,

the minocin leaves the digestive tract and enters circulation leaving a

remnant of live bacterium in the gut. Also, there are issues as to where

the bacterium live and the amount of minocin in-contact due to its passage

into the circulatory system. Intermittent dosing with minocin and constant

replensihment of the RANGE of bacterium through proper supplementation

should tend to build up and keep preferred bacterium at beneficial levels.

Jeff,

I forgot to mention, if you check the side effects (tab) of minocin on site

I posted, you may well find that you need to be using a different drug than

minocin, such as doxycycline. The side effects sound like a laundry list of

what you described.

Remember, the therapy has to be tailored to every individual.

The pharmacist told me there was a problem in taking amox and mino

together - he said one reduced the efficacy of the other.

Hi, Patty1

Sally here!

I would definitely get off the other AP while on Amoxycillin OR cut down

drastically-Man, I was one sick woman when my rheumie tried to make me stay

on daily AP (doxycycline and erithromycin) AND take other antibiotics-it was

NOT worth it and I would just discontinue my reg AP and take the big guns as

prescribed and start back on my daily AP AFTER I finished my amoxycillin or

Tequin, etc.

Just my opinion & good luck to you!

I can't speak for others, but I have had nothing but throat/tonsil problems

for a while now. Earlier this year, my tonsils had swollen up so badly that

they were touching at the back of my throat. I had them removed 4 weeks

ago because swallowing was becoming difficult. Another problem with my

throat is that I have developed a nodule or node on my voice box and my

voice is very raspy and cuts in and out when I talk. The more I flare, the

worse it becomes.

Hope this helps...

Really late on response here. Sorry. My throat does swell when my neck

goes into a flare. It doesn't completely close up but enough for me to

notice, plus I need to take a muscle relaxer during these times or the

neck pain with make my shoulder and head really bad. . I have found

that I must be careful when chewing and not be in a rush which I do

sometimes when I have other things on my mind. I choked once, that was

enough for me to learn my lesson. If your throat is closing up, you may

want to check with your dr about it.

Nope, not from the manufacturers, but possibly some are affiliated with the

shady side of that. We just don't know. We do know that some are breast

implant women who want more power than they could legitimately have doing

the kind of work we have been doing.
