Hi Cherie, How were your cortisol levels? Mine were very high. My

thyroid is low and I'm suffering from adrenal fatigue. My ND is going

to re-test me in a couple of months for other hormones like

progestrone because I just got off of the birth control pill last

month. I hope we'll start feeling great soon!

Stress, very simply. The implants are " Stress " to the body. They

are foreign, so the immune system sees them as a threat, and it works

overtime to get rid of them. That's why we build up scar tissue, as

the immune system is trying to wall them off to protect the body. In

response, the adrenal glands pour out more cortisol. Eventually they

will be exhausted.

I started my adrenal and DHEA supplements today. Do you know if it

takes a long time for the cortisol levels to go down?

Hi Steph,

It depends on what stage you are in and your own body chemistry. My

doc said 3-12 months for Stage 1. Lots of factors play into it as

well such as stress level, amount of rest and diet. Love, PH

Yes, it may take awhile.

Are you on Phosphorylated Serine (Seriphos®)?

This is recommended for those with elevated cortisol.

No right now I'm on armour, /DHEA 25 mgs, and something called

Adrenotone Plus to support the adrenals.

Well, I looked that up, and I am not going to go against what your

doctor has given you. I see that is has all the nutrients needed for

proper adrenal support.

However, I noticed that it has licorice root in it. Licorice should

only be used by those with LOW cortisol, because it slows down the

breakdown of cortisol in the liver, therefore, keeping more

available. But if you already have too much cortisol, the last thing

you want to do is slow down the breakdown. Wouldn't you agree?

You might want to check out adding some Phosphorylated Serine instead.

PH, Were your cortisol levels high? Mine are and right now I'm taking

25 mg of DHEA and a supplement to support the adrenals.

Steph, DHEA has been banned here in Canada. Do you know why they would ban this drug, or is it a supplement? My Cortisol levels were very low, and my doctor managed to get some DHEA, but it did not help me. I wonder if I was getting a placebo, because it would be illegal to get the real thing!

Honey, thank you for your support...love always......Lea

Hi Lea, it's a supplement but I did find this article regarding it

being banned in Canada:

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) has a bad reputation in Canada. This

essential natural hormone is contemptuously labeled a " steroid " by

some medical bureaucrats. With vague references to its use by

athletes, they dismiss DHEA as being akin to anabolic steroids, which

have no normal function in the human body. These health officials

seem to have little idea of what a steroid is, seem unaware that

their bodies make DHEA (and dozens of other steroids) every day, and

generally exhibit knowledge of human biochemistry that might qualify

them to pare toenails.

As a result, arbitrary regulations confine DHEA to special

prescription status in Canada, with few approved indications for its

use in medical treatment. Such senseless restriction deprives the

Canadian public of a most important biochemical substance. It is non-

toxic in any sensible dose and is essential for the prevention of

degenerative disease.

I should mention that following submissions to the government to

remove restrictions on DHEA by some members of the medical

profession, it has become available under the counter. Canadian

authorities seem to be turning a blind eye, except for occasional

media-invited, highly publicized raids, in which some unfortunate

shopkeeper is arrested and fined. Most members of Joe Public,

however, are rightly wary of buying banned substances since it is

considered a crime to possess it without a prescription.

It's time the science of DHEA became widely known. In this series of

articles I will present the science of DHEA, both to disseminate the

information, and in the hope that someone in Ottawa may be listening.

Lea,

It is only illegal in Canada without a prescription.

Thanks Patty, I'm going to mention it to him. Once your cortisol is

lowered would I still have to take the other supplement that you

mentioned to keep it lowered? I'm just wondering if it'll return back

to normal.

Steph,

You could take the licorice root when your cortisol goes down, if you

think you need it. Hopefully by then, your adrenals will be healed.

It can take up to two years for the adrenals to recover, but once

recovered, you shouldn't have to do anything special, except AVOID

STRESS, and take good care of yourself!!!

The brand I've seen recommended is by Interplexus

http://www.vitacost.com/InterPlexusSeriphos/csrc=SHOPFEED-ssp

but as long as they have the same basic ingredients it should be fine!
