Learning Today is at www.learningtoday.com

And Reading Plus is at: www.readingplus.com

Both of these companies market to school boards and systems, although

individuals can purchase acess. I received both of them through the public

school system at no cost. I would check with the remedial reading teacher at

school or possibly the speech pathologist. I got one from an interim hearing

specialist at the school.

They are designed so as a parent or teache,r you can monitor progress, adjust

difficulty level, target weak areas.

Really very cool.

Can you give me more information about this program -- ie: who makes it,

website link? This sounds like it would be tremendously helpful for a few

of the kids I work with. Thanks,

Hi Marcia.

You are very busy helping all of us.  Thanks for your response.  I have a few

free hours on

Saturdays and I will try calling you as long as you are not busy.

For the last 10 years, we have been working at home, had speech therapists, play

groups, etc.   I have always worked with him during the summers too.

Today, I talked to someone very helpful from the school (unfortunately not his

teacher who

at this time, we aren't able to have discussions) and she actually was helpful.

I did find out

from this person that the teacher told her that appears to be checked out

this year

and this is a change from last year.

I am going to try to switch up the times we work so that maybe it is not too

much between school and home.

Talk to you soon (if convenient for you)!  Thanks again.

Lynn

Lynn,

Does he have a tutor?  And do you work over vacations and summer.  Those were

often our big work times because not having school work it gave us time to

concentrate on what he needed to know.  When other kids were losing

information, mine always gained because we didn’t take a break.  Having said

that we used things he loved as reinforcement for learning.  Anything on the

computer was great for him as he wanted to be on it all day long.  So computer

programs that teach we often did together.  Call me.  I may not be great at

the medical but this is my area.  Maybe together we can come up with a plan.

Best,

Marcia

Hey, Lynn.

If you find out the cost, can you let me know. The " Pricing " link doesn't have

it. The other website is $17.99 for month to month. I think I'll use that for

the summer. Noah gets so tired in the afternoon that it's hard to get anything

done.

All the best,

Robyn

Dear Listmates,

Dr G recommended Rosetta stones program for my son. Have anyone tried it? If so,

would you please share your experience?

Our school writes up all schedules and routines with some kind of picture, posts

a main schedule (in several places), and then breaks down into detail at the

places the tasks are done at.

They may use velcro to stick on the routines for when they vary.

In my home, my high function 9 & 11 year old can't remember either.  It takes

constant prompting.  Drives us nuts sometimes, but from all the other parents I

talk to, it's the exact same way with them.

Heck, I have to write myself a list out, too!

board until I forced the schools to put Connor in regular ed against all of the

" Team " expert's opinion. It was tuff love but in just a few months Connor was

working at grade level. Two computer programs helps us the most. One " Learning

Today " worked through math and reading problems at grade level using a

progressive (Every time he logs on it increase speed and difficulty) game based

format that he earned points or rewards and in this format he really excelled.

It addressed real life math problems using distances and volumes in settings he

understood. We had pretty good calculating skills but could did grasp word

problems so he always failed standardized tests. Not any more.

The other we still use and it is called reading plus. This was the most amazing

for Connor. He was capable of decoding and phonetically verbalizing but little

To add - some things I do and have them do, we do in the exact order every

single day because it's the only way I can build a habit.  Anytime I change the

order of my routine, I forget something.

High eosiniphils could also point to parasites... just something to rule out.

(Don't jump to conclusions either because treatment can be brutal.)

One interesting thing I experienced years ago - I used to have environmental

allergies w/a chronic stuffy and runny nose, and had kinda high IgE.  When I

began battling my ASO titers, IgE vanished.  The only upside I experienced with

pandas is a loss of my allergies lol.  A researcher once broke it down for me

with several papers explaining the mechanism of how this happened.  It was

fascinating.

The only thing I can add is that our son had extremely high eosinophils but

when the dr. added Azithromycin for PANDAS, our son's eosins. went from off

the charts to high normal which was amazing considering we had him on the

strictest diet ever for years! I believe that bacteria, in our son's case,

caused a lot of the allergic reaction in his body. Possibly your next step

would be to investigate bacteria such as strep, mycoplasm pneumonia, and

others. Also, he may be allergic to yeast. A yeast test (OAT) from Great

Plains or other labs may shed some light on it. Allergic reactions can be

really hard to pinpoint. Good luck!

Hi.

I am writing to see if any the parents who have older children ever

experienced the following. Since being on the protocol since four, my

son came from a

place where he was severely affected and made significant gains that to me

were a miracle. For example, when he was three, he was out there and I can

remember walking this conservation land to get exercise and he was stimming,

screaming at God knows what, and also not able to walk anywhere normally and

enjoy like other families. He now does this without any issues and looks

quite normal. For the last couple of years, he has been two years behind

grade level and we work harder than anyone I know here and spend at least 15

hours to 18 hours a week doing so and also combining fun. Nothing I seem to

do breaks that two year behind problem and now it is getting worse.

This year, he turned 12 and I have found that his attention that was

previously much better, is way off, and so is his motivation that was also

previously much better. His allergy cells are up, but I have no idea how

because I used to allow small infractions in the past during Halloween or

birthday parties and his labs were fine, but now that I am not doing that at

all, they still higher than ever. The diet is cleaner than ever. I feel

like I am punishing him about the food because we are stricter than ever.

My son had years of gains followed by a regression that is lasting 3 months

and getting worse. Has anyone else on this list experienced anything

similiar and is this just a phase that you think will pass? (I hope so.)

Thanks in advance for any input.

previously much better, is way off, and so is his motivation that was also

previously much better.

Hello all. I have been taking Minocicline for almost a year now and i see a big

improvement, close to remission. the only concern i have is my foot, right

cortisone injections? are they leaving a lot of damage? i am just looking for

Hi Suzanne,

My right ankle was swollen to almost double its size and it was constant. I

saw an ankle specialist and he wanted to inject it with a " little

cortisone " . I said no. He came back in the room with the shot. I said no and

began to get off the table. He had 2 interns hold me while he shot my ankle.

He said he could not let me leave with my ankle so swollen. Well lucky for

me the ankle reduced in size and now 12 years later it is OK. I THINK the

Minocin prevented any joint deformation during the swelling and the

cortisone was needed to help the swelling which may have cut off circulation

eventually. I have slight swelling once in a blue moon and I need to use an

ankle support once in while(maybe 4 times over the 12 years). Otherwise it

is great.

I am NOT telling you what to do here. You must make that decision for

yourself. If you do decide on a cortisone injection please make sure you

have a specialist do it. It is a very sensitive part of the body and

improperly done could cause a split tendon. As for staying off the foot.that

is a good idea. You could split a tendon or stretch a muscle beyond normal

and it not go back but (this is only my opinion)I think the minocin will

prevent joint damage.

Good luck.

Good question Suzanne. I'm not in remission (yet) but my left ankle is always

swollen. I'm on a walker because of my hips, but if I stand still for more than

a few minutes, I can hardly start walking again. When I'm sitting or lying

down, I do constant rotations of both ankles to ge the blood flowing. that

helps some.

So I had a question/thought earlier as people were saying the are in remission

(determined by blood results I guess)

Question: when does the pain stop???????????sally

Sally, hi

I don’t think Minocin can reverse joint damage but it prevents joint damage.

Under the swelling a joint may be good even tho it really doesn’t look like

it…But if a joint is damaged before the minocin kicks in then the damage

remains.

No there is a significant difference in structure.

http://www.frontierpharm.com/faqs.php#difference

What's the difference between chlorine and chlorine dioxide?

While chlorine dioxide (ClO2) has chlorine in its name, chlorine dioxide's

chemistry is different from that of chlorine. Unlike the more common chlorine,

chlorine dioxide, at appropriate concentrations, is non-mutagenic,

non-carcinogenic, and relatively non-irritating. When ClO2 is added to water, it

dissolves without ionizing. Or more specifically, when exposed to water, ClO2

does not release a chlorine atom to form hydrochloric acid as does chlorine, nor

does it combine with organics to form chlorinated hydrocarbons, which are

carcinogenic.

One atom can make all the difference --- just as hydrogen is an explosive gas,

but when combined with oxygen becomes dihydrogen oxide - commonly known as water

(H2O).

Hello Kirk,

Chlorine dioxide, chlorous acid (what activated MMS makes), and hypochlorous

acid (what MMS2 makes when it comes into contact with water) are all bleaching

agents at higher concentrations.

Clorox bleach is sodium hypochlorite at 6% or 60000 PPM. MMS is sodium chlorite

at 22.4% or 224000 PPM.

With chlorine dioxide, bleaching starts at 300 PPM free chlorine dioxide.

A 3 drop dose of MMS has a concentration of 190 PPM available chlorine dioxide

with about 20 PPM of that as free chlorine dioxide.

And hypochlorus acid is also what the immune system of the human body uses to

fight disease, interesting, the design of the body. So lets look at how MMS acts

inside the body, not a test tube or pH strip.

http://phaelosopher.wordpress.com/2007/09/09/no-miracle-just-wonderful-chemistry\

/

Chlorine dioxide and chlorine are not the same. Chlorine is a chemical element.

In ion form, chlorine is part of common salt and other compounds, and necessary

to most forms of life, including human. A powerful oxidizing agent, it is the

most abundant dissolved ion in ocean water, and readily combines with nearly

every other element, including sodium to form salt crystals, and magnesium, as

magnesium chloride. You can't have life without the chlorine ion. However, in

the diatomic state, Cl2, chlorine is deadly.

Chlorine dioxide is a chemical compound that consists of one chlorine ion bound

to two ions of oxygen.

Oxidizing agents are chemical compounds that readily accept electrons from

" electron donors. " They gain electrons via chemical reaction. This is important

because relative to chlorine dioxide, a broad range of pathogens are electron

donors. Conversely, all healthy tissue and aerobic microorganisms are unaffected

by chlorine dioxide.

Chlorine dioxide is extremely volatile. You might call it " hot tempered, " but in

a very beneficial way. This volatility is a key factor in chlorine dioxide's

effectiveness as a pathogen destroyer.

The compound is literally explosive; so explosive, it's not safe to transport in

any quantity. Therefore, it is common practice to generate chlorine dioxide " on

site " at the point of use. Most chlorine dioxide production is done on a scale

that would prove deadly for individuals, for example, in municipal water

treatment systems, where it is beginning to replace chlorine because, unlike

chlorination, chlorine dioxide water disinfection produces no carcinogenic

byproducts. Chlorine dioxide is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency

in safely removing pathogens and contaminates like anthrax. It was even studied

by the National Institutes of Health in 1982 and found to be safe for human

consumption. No one was looking at, or for its medicinal value, so a study like

that could be done and results published. Something very unlikely in this day

and age.

In spite of chlorine dioxide's effectiveness in large scale water treatment, the

concentrations used in such applications can vary from 500 to over 6,000 parts

per million (ppm), which would clearly be deadly to an individual. Using the MMS

protocol you will produce chlorine dioxide in the range of 1 ppm.

The Process

Let's talk a bit more about how and why chlorine dioxide works for giving the

immune system a new lease on life.

Volatility is what makes chlorine dioxide so effective when it contacts

pathogens. As we've mentioned, chlorine dioxide is a safe and effective

disinfectant in many municipal water delivery systems, hospitals, and even in

bioterrorism response. It stands to reason that chlorine dioxide would be just

as effective working in the waters of the human body.

Chlorine dioxide's extreme volatility prevents pathogens from developing a

resistance. Mainly because when they " clash, " the pathogens no longer exist.

Yet, healthy cells and beneficial bacteria are unaffected.

While normal levels of oxygen in the blood cannot destroy all of the pathogens

present under disease conditions, delivery of chlorine dioxide changes

everything.

" Halt! Surrender Your Electrons, Now! "

When a chlorine dioxide ion contacts a harmful pathogen, it instantly rips up to

five electrons from the pathogen, in what can be likened to a microscopic

explosion… harmless to us, but terminal for pathogens.

The pathogen – an electron donor – is rendered harmless due to the involuntary

surrendering of its electrons to the chlorine dioxide – an electron acceptor –

and the resulting release of energy. Oxidized by the chlorine ion, the former

pathogen becomes a harmless salt.

This process benefits a body that has become toxic.

Throughout the body, anywhere chlorine dioxide ions – transported via red blood

cells – come in contact with pathogens, the pathogens give up their electrons

and cease to exist. The chlorine dioxide armed cells only " detonate " on contact

with pathogens, which include harmful bacteria, viruses, toxins, heavy metals,

and parasites. All of these will have pH values that are out of the body's range

of good health. They will also have a positive ionic charge. The chlorine

dioxide equipped cells do not oxidize beneficial bacteria, or healthy cells, as

their pH levels are 7 or above, and hold a negative ion charge.

Chlorine dioxide ions will oxidize – meaning vaporize – diseased cells… anything

that is acidic, with a positive ion charge.

[2010 UPDATE]

Jim Humble continued learning about chlorine dioxide, and understandings have

evolved. One misunderstanding was that it acts on anything that is anaerobic by

way of the negative/positive charge dynamics. He learned that there is another

factor, referred to as Oxidation Potential, which is the measure of a chemical's

ability to gain, or lose electrons. Oxidation potential (also referred to as

redox potential) of a given element is expressed in volts. For chlorine dioxide,

that value is .95 volts. Anything that has a lower voltage than .95 will give up

to 5 electrons to the chlorine dioxide molecule on contact.

By way of comparison, chlorine dioxide has a milder oxidation effect than

hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which has an oxidation potential of 1.78 and collects

2 electrons, or Ozone (O3) whose oxidation potential is 2.07, and only collects

2 electrons. [source: Lenntech Water Treatment Systems] A healthy human cell has

a natural electrical of just over 1 volt, which means that it would be

unaffected by chlorine dioxide, yet, it has been long known that extended use of

hydrogen peroxide or ozone is damaging to healthy cells and tissue. Yet, they

are used widely today.

If the chlorine dioxide ions encounter no pathogens or other poisons, it

deteriorates into table salt and in some instances, hypochlorous acid, which the

body can also use. [2010 UPDATE] Jim Humble has also devised a way to help this

process with what he calls " MMS2 & #8243;.

A Journey into Chemical Alchemy

Once it is introduced into the bloodstream, chlorine dioxide performs a highly

energetic acceptance of four electrons when it comes across anything organic or

inorganic that has an oxidation potential less than .95 volts. This means that

diseased cells, as well as chemical and heavy metal deposits, are essentially

vaporized (i.e., " oxidized " ) while healthy cells are unaffected.

Here is how it happens.

Red blood cells that are normal carriers of oxygen throughout the body do not

differentiate between chlorine dioxide and oxygen. Therefore, after ingesting

the MMS/chlorine dioxide-rich solution, red blood cells pick up chlorine dioxide

ions that are deposited on the stomach wall where it normally gathers nutrients

of various kinds before journeying through the body.

Then, when the red blood cells armed with chlorine dioxide encounter parasites,

fungi, or diseased cells that are low energy (meaning electrical value), the

" aliens " are destroyed along with the chlorine dioxide ion. If no such

encounters occur, the chlorine dioxide will be carried to a point in the body

where oxygen normally oxidizes poisons and other harmful agents.

If the chlorine dioxide doesn't hit anything that can set it off, it will

deteriorate, and thus lose an electron or two. This may allow it to combine with

a very important substance that the immune system uses to make hypochlorous acid

(HOCl), which incidentally, is another oxidizer. It is not widely publicized

that hypochlorous acid is produced by the human body as part of its natural

immune function. Yet, corroborating information is available if one is inclined

to look.

This compound kills pathogens, killer cells, and even cancerous cells.

Hypochlorous acid is so important, its diminished presence in the body is

described medically by the term myeloperoxidase deficiency. Many people are

afflicted by this condition. The immune system needs a great deal more

hypochlorous acid when disease is present. Facilitated by the MMS solution,

chlorine dioxide delivers it in spades, as does magnesium chloride, but that's

another part of the health discussion.

However, seeing how important hypochlorous acid production is to proper immune

system function led Humble to develop MMS2, which is simply the introduction of

a small amount of calcium hypchlorite Ca(ClO)2. When ingested hypochlorous acid

(HOCl) is generated as the capsules dissolve.

The most salient point to know, is that chlorine dioxide has 100 times more

energy to do what oxygen normally does, and yet, due to its lower voltage, does

not affect healthy cells.

By the way, if you are totally healthy, there are no ill-effects from taking

chlorine dioxide. However, your stores of hypochlorous acid will be increased,

bolstering your immune system.

MMS works best to destroy pathogens that may be present in the body, when 2 or 3

mg of free chlorine dioxide are in the solution at the time it is swallowed.

However, the body is supplied with chlorine dioxide in a " timed release " manner

lasting about 12 hours. Be aware, that before you feel better, it is likely you

will feel ill.

Hello Healinghope,

Yes, the body does form hypochlorous acid AFTER the pathogen has been engulfed

and removed from the blood stream. The white blood cell then produces a small

amount of hypochlorous acid that kills the pathogen.

This is much different than flooding the body with hypochlorous acid.

I might also point out that the discussion about the theory of how chlorine

dioxide may possibly work inside the body is interesting, but when you mix up a

dose of MMS you are forming chlorous acid. This is different than simply having

chlorine dioxide in water and it behaves differently.

Also, keep in mind that chlorine dioxide reacts strongly with biofilms, and the

mucous lining of the mouth and throat are biofilms. Take a mouthful of an

activated MMS dose, swish it around in your mouth for a short period of time and

spit it out into a glass. You will notice that all the free chlorine dioxide is

used up just by being in contact with your saliva.

Now if someone could explain how chlorous acid works inside the body, we would

be on to something.
