Guest guest
Really?? I've been pondering trying that; maybe I'll give it a shot. Guest guest
How much oil do you put in your mouth? I tried it with about a teaspoon but couldn't do it for long - too much saliva formed and had to spit it all out. How do you do it? Guest guest
Yes, a LOT of saliva, but that's a good thing. For some reason, I managed the trick of it on the first try, using a full tablespoon of coconut oil. The first 15 seconds or so is a bit unsavory, as I start with solid VCO (organic) and let it melt by sort of chewing it, but then I just kind of ignore what I'm doing and just keep swishing it. By the end of 20 minutes my mouth is completely full, and I spit out a lot of milk white saliva and mucus and who knows what other toxic crap. One trick is to just use a teaspoonful and then after five minutes, spit it out and go another five minutes with another teaspoonful. I truly enjoy this oil pulling, so I'm doing it twice a day. The best result I've found, besides the energy it gives me, is that I slept, the last couple of days, better than I have in years...a full eight hours without awakening. Guest guest
Oil puling stopped Lyme disease from destroying our youngest daughter's teeth, over a year ago. (We apparently killed the Lyme this year with radiation hormesis via Nighthawk Minerals.) We used Sesame but my reading indicates that any " good " oil will work and there might be benefit from switching oils. Anyway, the best technique for overcoming the yuck factor of doing it for a full 15 minutes is to divvy up into 3 or more shorter sessions per day. Guest guest
Hi Read, You can find all the info you need here: http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/article%20oil%20pulling.htm I do it first thing every morning and while I can't attest to all of the cures, my oral health has never been better. I like to alternate between Sunflower and Coconut Oil. Best, Dee > > I guess I am behind times. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've just joined this group and thought I'd say hello. I just started oil pulling with VCO this weekend mainly for oral hygene purposes to try and get the mouth in better shape. Obviously it's too early for me to see any differences yet. At first I didn't like the idea of putting oil in my mouth so started with a teaspoon but today I'm using a desert spoon. I think it's just a case of getting used to it really. Strange at first :-) Anyway, hello to all and look forward to learning more and getting to know new people. Thanks for having me. susan > > During the time I've been part of this forum, I've only read a couple of brief mentions about " oil pulling " , but my curiosity was tweaked, so I did some research and decided to give it a try. Guest guest
Alobar, Just to be clear, you add 2 full droppers of 10% Lugol's Iodine - not 2 drops? Any idea how many drops in a dropper? 13 or 14 maybe? And you drink it all down? And you do this every day? Dee p.s. sorry for the last two messages sent without a reply. It was accidental
Guest guest
And you also do the oil pulling - separate from the Iodine swishing and swallowing, right? Guest guest
I used to OP with Sesame and Sunflower oils (which are the oils most recommended for OP). When I OPd with CNOil, it tended to put me to sleep sitting up at my desk chair. Later on OPing with CNOil caused me to get loose stools so I had to quit. I haven't OPd in about 2 months. I seemed to get loose stools from it, even with Sesame and SF oils, and I didn't think I needed any more bowel stimulation. If I go back to OP one day, which I probably will, it will be with sesame and SF oils. I do consume 2-3 TBS of EPOCO or EVOCO daily. Have been for over 10 years. Guest guest
Well, ok, let's say a dropperful is (at least) 15 drops, so 2 droppersful would be 30 drops (equal to 60 drops of 5%). Now, If 5% Lugols is 6.25 mg. per drop that means you have been taking approximately 375 mg. of iodine/iodide per day - and you're still here! Imagine that :-) Dee > >> > >> I stocked up on a lifetime supply of the original 10% Lugol's Iodine > >> before it became illegal. I put 2 droppersful of Lugol's in a 4 > >> ounce cup. Guest guest
thanks Laurie for responding......I've been using Myrrh for 15+ yrs. for oral antiseptic and sounds like clove oil does the same thing.....Myrrh was used in old days by dentists for it's antiseptic properties and dates all the way back to biblical days........ I also have quite a few implants and found the BEST way to clean my mouth is with a WaterPik---gets right between the teeth and gums---my mouth/implants never felt so clean......I use pink salt water solution in the water pik, and there is also a tip available that is for sinus irrigation, which I've been relying on to get me through my change of the seasons cold/sinus bout right now---it's like a netti pot on steroids (smile)......best home appliance I've ever bought (smile)...... Guest guest
Hi Alobar, I didn't at all mean to suggest that the amount you take is harmful - quite the opposite. I'm just not sure how you are figuring the ~750 in micrograms instead of milligrams. Do you have a source you can site? The several I found all mentioned MG. And here is one I missed: http://www.naturodoc.com/ND-Lug1.htm quote: " In 1880, a French physician named Jacques Lugol originated a solution which contains 5 percent of elemental iodine in a 10 percent solution of potassium iodide. It has been used steadily ever since. One drop of Lugol's Iodine contains 6.417mg of elemental iodine. A 5-drop dose contains 32.09mg of elemental iodine. " Isn't the above what is called 5% Lugols and the 10% Lugol's you take twice as strong (and no longer available)? But regardless, isn't it measured in MG rather than MCG? And based on two full droppers of approximately 15 drops each the amount of MG would be around 375 MG for 10% or 190 MG for 5%. Assuming only 5% Lugols the MCG would be 190,000 mcg. http://www.metric-conversions.org/weight/milligrams-to-micrograms-table.htm Do you have a source where sodium ascorbate will reduce the 190,000 mcg. to ~750? If so that could be a valuable resource. Guest guest
the original directions i found called for sunflower oil so i have been using that. a small amount is fine. and i notice that when i have my teeth cleaned after doing the pulling for a couple of months the cleaning is much easier. no tough tarter spots; no sore spots. when i dropped off for a few months once before a cleaning i went back to my previous experiences including being sore in the same spots. but i would prefer coconut oil. i am due to have my teeth cleaned in a couple of days. i think after that i will switch to coconut oil. > > > > During the time I've been part of this forum, I've only read a couple of brief mentions about " oil pulling " , but my curiosity was tweaked, so I did some research and decided to give it a try. Guest guest
Alobar, Does the 10% bottle indicate the ratio's of iodine, potassium iodide & distilled water? Or if there is anything else in that solution? Did a MSDS come with the order? I can't even imagine how much a lifetime supply would be!! Thanks > > Hi Alobar, > > > > How and with what product did you use to supplement the Iodine. > > > > Thanks & Regards, > > > > Craig > > > > >
Guest guest
Excellent, thank you for your response. Some folks on the Iodine group have shared their recipes for 10% Lugol's and also a 10% Iodine tincture (to be used externally only I suppose) and since you had recently mentioned that you had some commercially prepared 10% Lugol's in your possession I thought I would see what information you had on it. The MSDS for the 2% & 5% Lugol's solutions are readily available to show ingredients and quantities so I was curious if the MSDS for the 10% reflected the same ratios. Oxidane is a new one to me too! And I only recently learned that iodine is correctly pronounced " eye-oh-deen " . Unlikely you will catch me saying it correctly!! Doesn't sound like you need it but if you want me to share on this forum the ratio's for 2% & 5% and the recipes that are being shared from the iodine forum let me know. Impressive stockpile that you have!! > > Alobar, > > > > Does the 10% bottle indicate the ratio's of iodine, potassium iodide & distilled water? Or if there is anything else in that solution?
