Guest guest
Hello all, First, here is a definition I got from the Mayo Clinic: " Alcoholism is characterized by a preoccupation with alcohol and impaired control over alcohol intake. Alcoholism is a chronic, often progressive disease. Left untreated, alcoholism can be fatal. You may continue to abuse alcohol despite serious adverse health, personal, work-related and financial consequences. Alcoholism usually involves physical dependence on alcohol, but genetic, psychological and social factors contribute to the addiction as well. It's possible to have a problem with alcohol, but not display all the characteristics of alcoholism. This is known as " alcohol abuse, " which means you engage in excessive drinking that causes health or social problems, but you aren't dependent on alcohol and haven't fully lost control over the use of alcohol. " My father was an alcoholic and I got to deal with the consequences of that growing up. I did make the mistake of driving home when I should not have and I felt horrible for doing so and would never do it again. People make stupid mistakes however it does not make one an alcoholic. The real problem is not Matt Roloff, the real problem is how many dwarfs do have actual alcoholism issues. Seriously, how many LP's have died from alcoholism? There is a family in LPA who I will NOT say their name but I feel for them and I wish the whole family could get help. Matt screwed up and he will have to deal with the scrutiny because he is in the public eye, however we need to focus our attention on what goes on at conferences. Not rumors but actual issues. - (who was on the receiving end of an abusive alcoholic father) ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Sick sense of humor?
