Dear Everyone --

Since this involves changes in the registration practice for the next

conference, I thought it was important to share this information.

Dear friends and members of LPA-

We are working on a new and ambitious Conference Registration plan for

Seattle 2007 50th anniversary..

The LPA board of Directors is supporting a new National Conference

Registration process starting this year with the 2007 Seattle

conference.

In an attempt to avoid the yearly fiascos regarding overbooking and

then

mass cancellations of our hotel rooms we will be implementing the

following new process.

All those planning on attending the 2007 conference must register

first

for the conference and then they will receive a confirmation booking

code that can be used to secure the conference rate of $104 plus tax

at

the DoubleTree Hotel Seattle Airport.

We will start by accepting a $50.00 deposit for your Conference

registration and this deposit will trigger your ability to book your

rooms at the DoubleTree.

The full deposit is refundable on or before March 30 2007. All

those

requesting a Conference registration refund will be required to cancel

room registrations as well.

No doubt many of you will have questions, concerns and even critical

responses. We welcome any and all constructive suggestions however,

this has been under intense consideration for many years and after 50

years of conferences it's time to try new approaches to solve old

problems. We are thankful for the unanimous support of the board of

Directors and the 2008 conference committee to help move this new (and

no doubt controversial) approach forward.

Many details of the conference schedule of events are still being

worked

out and we will be using LPAToday (each issue) to provide additional

details.

In the meantime if you want to lock your space down please call

Maureen

Malek (LPA National Office Administrator) at (888) 572-2001 to secure

your place at our 50th golden extravaganza.

Ted Spencer is putting the final touches on he 2007 website and we

expect that to be officially announced next week.

Best regards,

Matt Roloff

I think this is great!

On many fronts this solves problems for the Conference committee, LPA

and the members who want to attend but can't plan a year in advance.

How?

It stops the Registration deadbeats that want to come to Conference

and hang at the dances and never pay what everyone else does, it

gives an accurate room count without last minute cancellations of

room blocks from those who book 9 months out not sure if they're even

going and it helps those who want a guaranteed room get a

reservation in a more civilized fashion with by simply paying up first.

This is long overdue and The Seattle Conference Committee as well as

The National Review Committee and National officers should be

applauded for this new policy.
