Guest guest
I've been waiting to post this but now seems like a good time.... I have to disagree that the words " positive " and " reality TV " cannot be used in the same breath. In January Arnold posted a message here from the Women's Entertainment network looking for a woman to do a reality show for their network. I contacted the producer and long story short I did the show. Now anyone that knows me knows I'm not typically into this sort of thing; however after talking to the producer, in depth, it appeared to be a positive show I wanted to be a part of. The WE channel was looking for a strong LP women who was independent, had gainful employment and was a role model for other LP women. For 3 days I invited them into the condo I own, brought them to my place of employment for 6 yeras I was an IS Specialist for a construction company and the only female in my department. (I have since switched jobs). I also introduced them to my friends and family. I've kept in touch with the WE channel and they are so excited about this show and the positive message it's going to deliver. Now I know that MTV is a completely different channel then WE however MTV reaches a VERY important viewing population. I remember when MTV was doing the True Life: I'm a Little Person show. Several LPs were featured and if I remember correctly the message that came out of that show was a positive one as well. I understand there's different lists for acting jobs however these many of shows are not looking for actors they are looking diverse LP representation. People can get mad if they want but the fact remains, reality TV isn't going anywhere and we are going to continue to see more LPs on reality TV. I think the moderators made a fine decision by letting that post through and I hope MTV gets a someone great to be on the show. If you weren't interested in the post simply delete it. I hope people realize the more LPs seen on TV delivering a positive message the better it's going to be for all of us (even if it is reality TV). Sincerely, April Brazier District 6 Director
