Well, since posting my question, I received a number of responses. And as

always thank you to all of you for your responses. In addition, I was asked by

some of you to let you know what I found out, so I decided to forward an update

at one time. After a miserable night of unrelenting pain, despite, rest, heat,

ice and lots of Advil, I broke down and got an appt with a Rehab Med Doc.

today.

She thinks what I have is a torn or stretched tendon in the shoulder probably

due to overuse, complicated by an arm that doesn't have the best mechanical

motion to start with. The doc is not a Dwarf specialist and could not speak to

specific DD issues but her manner and style was very open, and attentive. She

did a pretty decent exam and seemed to pinpoint my pain spots/motion very

quickly. I am feeling pretty comfortable with her at this point. Anyway, we are

going to try the tendon hypothesis first.

So far, I have had a lovely steroid shot in the joint that has brought me a

great deal of relief, such that I might have to go back and kiss her tomorrow

AND I think I will sleep well tonight. She has given me a two week deal with

Vioxx and then if all is going well, I am then going to OT, rather than PT. In

the meantime, rest and ice packs are my primary mode of treatment.

Well that's the story so far..Thankfully, signing off a much happier camper..

What also causes those aches and pains which is how you handle a gallon jug

of milk or laundry detergent. Another thing is how one handles a bag of kitty

litter which I get the 10 lb bag compared to the economical 20 lb bag.

I make sure that my grocery bags are packed light and have lots of bags

compared to a few heavy ones.

I like the purses that have both the strap and the handles.

Besides all the lifting and pulling we do, there is something else that can

mess up our necks and shoulders.

It is that purse that we keep all our needs in. A lot of us have the over

the shoulder strap so that the hand can be used to carry a briefcase, lunch

bags with water bottles, etc. I am guilty of this and know immediately when

I have over done it.
