Guest guest
Hillary, thank you for asking! One of the really great things about Zetaboards is we will have everything THERE. Many of our Dwarfism members are on " no E-Mail " anyway, preferring to read their mail via the site and not their mailboxes. Zeta not only allows us to do the same, but also offers us a whole lot more. We encourage everyone to explore Zeta Dwarfism...check out the features, and become familiar with it. Don't hesitate to ask for any help, or ask any questions you may have regarding this. We are glad to help in every way we can. Guest guest
May I ask why this is being done? Is the idea to eliminate this group? If so, why? What happens to the archive of messages? I have been trying to find my way around this new system for 30 minutes and I don't find it to be any more user friendly than the system we already have in place and I'm fairly computer literate. Also, why is there a page asking for money? Will we eventually have to pay dues to access this new board? You claim that Zetaboards offers " a whole lot more. " Please tell us what it offers that we don't currently have. I'm also confused to why such a major change is taking place and the community had no voice in it. We changed the max number of posts per day and it was brought to the community at large. This seems to be a tad bit bigger of a change. Rose > > > Hillary, thank you for asking! Guest guest
Hillary, Rose, et all, I also had concerns about Zeta at first, and even some major frustrations regarding Zeta, as well as the dread of change. But once I began using it, writing messages, interacting, and navigating my way around, I soon realized how much I like its' features. I had to take a few days to learn and get used to its' features first though...and I am still learning. So what do I like about it? I like being able to see who else is online when I am there. Yes, apparently has this, but I for one, sure could never tell if anyone was online or not. Now I can quite easily. I like being able to go to Zeta, and not having my mailbox overflowing with E-Mail. I like being able to choose which topic thread or section I want to respond to, and how every post on a given topic are separated by that topic, from the most recent one onwards. I like the fact that if a person wants to only check for the latest Regional or Chapter information, there is a special section for all that. I like that there are specific sections just for businesses and jobs. I am a artist, so I like the way I can now put pics of my work either to sell, or simply to display there, as will others. LIke showcase our talents. We can post pictures, blogs, even create websites within Dwarfism at Zeta. In my LP Pain Group I have been able to create easy to see sections on its' home page, that I can't do via . If someone wants to check on medications, there is a section just for that. If someone wants to check out treatment options, it is right there in a easy to access section which I have been able to create just for this purpose. Because we access mail via Zeta Dwarfism, there will thankfully be far less we as moderators will need to do, such as dealing with the many " bouncing " members at we must handle. Actually, I think the Emoticons are kind of fun too. I also like that posting is just like instant messaging. Again, it was only after I tried Zeta by actually posting messages, responding to them, and creating there, that I then found how much I like using Zeta...and I hope you will too. You tell me to check out a web page, and since I'm not looking for anything, I'm not likely to do that. If that service has benefits I don't currently have, tell me. Otherwise, I'm likely to just stick with what I got. Hillary **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. Guest guest
Well I know that I for one have my messages on an e-mail in digest form and I don't relish the idea of having to go to the web to read. I am trying hard to cut down on my time in front of the computer reading e-mail and I don't think this would help. On the other hand sometimes change is good even if it is difficult to do. I too would like to hear about some of the services Zeta has to offer which make a change look good. Danette Baker scraps-of-joy@... Spokane, Washington If you are worried And just can't sleep. Guest guest
I'm not weighing in one direction or the other on this idea, but I want to toss in three things to consider: My HS class reunion committee several years ago signed up for MyFamily.com as group page for our class. It had an email list, web page with bulletin boards, a place to post photo albums, email archives, a chat room, etc. All for free. It worked great for about four years, but then, MyFamily decided to start charging for the site. When no one ponied up, our class account was frozen, and no one could access the web page, uploaded photos, or the email archives. What's to stop the same thing at Zeta boards? Craig has been (is still trying) to get a social networking site up and running (Litttle.com). There are still some kinks to work out, and I don't know how many people signed up, but it is a site designed and run by an LP. LPA is going to add a chat function, email list, and bulletin board to their website (and I don't think you'll have to be a member to access it). This will add yet another competing web/list site. I admire your guys' enthusiasm, but speaking from experience, people generally don't like to learn new things if they don't have to. So I think all three, Zeta, Litttle.com, and the LPA site are all going to struggle to compete with . (And I say this an officer of LPA, so I can't be accused of bias). Guest guest
Currently, litttle.com has close to 500 members. The site has lps and parents of lps all registered. I would love to hear what these kinks are so I can fix them. Guest guest
Huh? All you have to do is go to www.lpaonline.org, and you are on the site. Anyone can do it. The login is only for conference registration, and eventually, the newsletter. The message boards, email list, chat functions, etc. are not up and running yet.
