Guest guest
First, congratulations on the 25 lbs in the first 3 weeks. I am concerned about your meals now. I assume you are on week 4 post op? If so, you should still be on yogurt, fruits, fruit juice, broths, oatmeal and cream soups. You should not be trying solid food for several more weeks. Your band is still healing, and those foods may be the cause of your heart-burn, hiccups, etc. (don’t know for sure). Are you getting enough protein each day? You might want to try the New Whey liquid protein – they have about 42 gr. Of protein and don’t taste bad. Also, any weight loss during your recovery is “extra” – don’t be worried about losing or gaining – just concentrate on healing your stoma and incisions. Just try to stay on the Dr’s diet you received when you got the band, and soon you will be able to eat all those foods you listed. Good luck. After dropping 25 lbs in first 3 weeks, I gained 3lb last week, I have no energy past the work day and while I'm okay in the morning, I am raving for carbs by the end of the day. - Physically all seems fine, no soreness or infection - meal wise: OJ and a high quality (and thick)liquid vitamin water whey protein mixed with skim milk for lunch water water/water (trying to water pack) pureed soups/tidbits of solid/jello Am also now trying small bits of solids(lots of chewing)of what kids are having to find what I can/cannot handle. I am slightly restricted, get heartburn/hickup if I eat too fast/wrong thing. Chicken/fish fine, much of anything bread based is bad, pasta with sausage is really bad. Wife made BBQ beans last night, just to get me into soft foods - she's been great - eating what I eat at dinner, trying to find food I like, helping me find vitamins/protein etc. So how did I gain over last week? - not enough exercise (hit gym early today while I still have energy, but it's just not there after work during the week) - I am carb hunting after dinner, getting into the fridge for damn near anything an hour or two after dinner. How can I get enough energy to exercise, kill the late night carb craving, and get back to losing lbs??? Norm
