Guest guest
Marge and List: I cannot (and will not) speak for Dave, but here's my take on this. There are a few people (about four) on the board and the Executive Committee who - im my impression - have acted unethically. While a majority of the board members - as Marge suggests - have acted with integrity and compassion, these few people mentioned above had soured the credability of LPA's entire officer contingent, if not the entire organization. This is why the strongest election campaign in LPA's history is currently underway. It appears that more than just a " few " people are asking questions. At first, I thought all this was " painful change " - but now I am certain that the changes needed did not have to be this painful. Furthermore, if the these few officers have nothing to hide, then why has there been so much mention of " confidentiality " and so many " executive sessions " ? Then again, I do not have all the facts and am in no position to argue. Unfortunately, this is true for most of us in District 11 who were not involved in these situations and are forced to form opinions without all of the facts. And, while were making objections, I am going to object to the last page of the voter's pamphlet " suggesting " how everyone votes. This document should be nothing more than a vehicle for education that clearly presents both sides of the issues. It is already clear how the EC feels on the issues. The last page was uncalled for. This was an INSULT to the ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP. Flame away! Randy Bradford Finding more satisfaction and success in the average sized world. Guest guest
Thank you Marge! I appreciate your support and I agree with did what we thought was best and with integrity for the ENTIRE organization. We made decisions based on what we felt was important for the organization in the long term. All DD must remember we are officers of a National Organization, besides being Directors of our geographic area. It is sometimes hard to separate issues of an individual when making decisions for the National organization. But that is truely what has been done in several cases this year. " However, from our leaders we must always expect honesty, integrity, compassion, and a genuine effort to seek the truth and do the right thing. In short, we must expect our leaders to be capable of ethical behavior. " To say we as a BOD have not made decisions with honesty, integrity, compassion and .... and the forsight to do the right thing for the ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP AND FUTURE of the organization is an INSULT!! Just because you and a few others did not agree with the decisioins and cannot see the forest from the trees does not mean we our personal characteristics are flawed. Marge, If I had said that the BOD lacked integrity, yes, it would have been an insult. But that is not what I said. I said that integrity was a component of leadership, and that I think it is fair to question whether has demonstrated it in the past year, considering that he is a candidate for Senior Vice President. My interest, as always, is purely in the long-term health of LPA. Don't take it personally. -Dave
