Guest guest
Good to hear from you . I'm currently using a kid's beach-sand shovel, the scoop part is heavy plastic and about a foot across, with wood handle, so it's more substantial than the average kid shovel. I'm using by accident though, last year I lost my regular one and grabbed this in desperation one day, but I like this one because it only allows me to lift what I can handle so I don't do anything heroically stupid. It's slower going, but I noticed this afternoon I didn't have to stop and rest too much. The scoop is curved to so snow is less likely to fall out, but that also means that it's not as good at scraping the ground surface. I was wondering if those compact/travel shovels might be good, but I don't know, because I'm on my second telescoping scraper and I'm about ready to duct tape it permanently, just like the last one, into the extended size, because it doesn't stay extended. Thursday's storm was ok (aside from the traffic mess - I really played that wrong), because the snow was fluffy. Today's was yucky and heavy. Good luck everyone. As we age (prematurely skeletally), I think snow work is like grocery-shopping, it's good if we have the funds to get someone else to do it to save our joints. Like had mentioned when she moved, I live in a place where I don't have to worry about shoveling the doorway or driveway, but I do park outside so I have to clear off my car and behind it. Luckily the plow that does the parking lot doesn't leave my car in a snowbank. Also this is the time of year I'm glad for the AWD that is ruining my gas mileage. I'm not saying anything else as I don't want to jinx my icy commute tomorrow morning. Oh yeah, I finally have a guy (no there's no news there, it's my son) who is big enough to help, but alas the kid's back is worse than mine and there's a possible laminectomy looming for him during the New Year. : - ( Holiday blessings all **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)
