Guest guest
Hello all I'm new around these parts and my name is ( There seems to be many of us " " s here... ) But Rocky will be just fine.. I'm currently working with Vocational Rehab of Florida to get myself a van and the process has gotten me curious.. When you first attempted apply for your driver's License, what was the process like for you in your particular state and/or country? For me VR contacted an out of state driving instructor <He's based in Indiana I live in Florida > and had to put my life on hold and wait for his schedule open up for me, instead of having a local instructor. Is this similar for other states? Rocky
Guest guest
I'm from Illinois, tried to go thru Voc Rehab...it was a joke. Had to take a driver's evaluation after driving over 25 years. Company from Wheaton Illinois gave the evaluation, then another company from Wisconsin got involved. They made suggestions that were so outlandish, it would of been over $80,000 in modifications (to which we were told the vehicle(s) we (my brother and I were driving, both would not meet their modification requirements, that we needed to get new(er) vans.) Ok so we started that process, oh forgot to mention, they also require that you be employed, but how can you be employed, when you need ability to get to job, which you don't have, cause you can't drive without modifications, to transport yourself in and out of your vehicle alone. Then at the end, they tell you, you are responsible to insure the equiptment, which in this case was over $80,000 just on equiptment! Say the least, Voc. Rehab. turned us down....Don't hold your breath! But hope the best for you! I finally got a van with some modification (rear ramp entry) which without a job as yet, paying the monthly payments is very difficult. And Voc. Rehab. has given up on job placement, as they closed my case, at present. Bruce
Guest guest
Hi Rocky, There are plenty of certified driver rehab specialists in Florida. I can find you one, or you can go to the website www.driver-ed.org There, go to membership, select your state, then you will have a list of all the places and people who do that kind of training. Anyone who is a CDRS is trained to do that kind of work. -Casey --- rocky_raccoon909 <rocky_raccoon909@...> wrote: > Hello all I'm new around these parts and my name is > ( There > seems to be many of us " " s here... ) But Rocky > will be just fine.. > > I'm currently working with Vocational Rehab of > Florida to get myself a > van and the process has gotten me curious.. > > When you first attempted apply for your driver's > License, what was the > process like for you in your particular state and/or > country? > > For me VR contacted an out of state driving > instructor <He's based in > Indiana I live in Florida > and had to put my life > on hold and wait > for his schedule open up for me, instead of having a > local instructor. > > Is this similar for other states? > > Rocky > > > ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
