I'm still waiting on the " conspiracy theory " that Bush knows where Bin Laden is

and is waiting until October to nab him.

Maybe my nephew will be involved with the capture...in a good way.

Hope everyone has a safe Memorial Day what with all those tornadoes and rain

storms etc. hitting across the country.

Karin :-)

Okay everyone (not to pick on Marty)...

This discussion is getting dangerously close to being purely political in

nature, and having nothing to do with dwarfism. I realize the original thread

was convention-oriented, but we've strayed off course talking about Bush and his

cronies (alhtough, I do think if Ashcroft ever got his way, we'd all have

barcoded I.D.s tatooed to our foreheads and forced to obey a 7pm - 7am curfew).

BUT I DIGRESS!

One thing to keep in mind about the conference and potential terror attacks (or

any other emergency such as a fire, or earthquake), is that we need to

communicate with the hotel and emergency response officials our unique

challenges in evacuating a multi-storied building. We did a pretty good job in

Boston (granted most of us were either at the general assembly meeting or headed

to the softball game), but I shudder to think what would happen if the fire

alarm went off at 3am (except, of course, for the teens who will be hanging out

in the lobby :-) Would the elevators be working? And if so, can 4 elevators

evacuate 2000+ dwarves in a timely manner?

I would hope the conference committee has discussed this with the hotel. And I

would encourage everyone who is mobility-impaired (scooter, wheelchair,

crutches) to let the hotel staff, and friends at the conference, know this about

you and what room you're in.

It's hard to take seriously the " no purely political " warning when the

moderator, while issuing the warning, makes politcally biased statements of

his own.

Lord help me if anyone ever takes me too seriously...

Sigh.

You can tell it is an election year. Sense of humor is the first casualty.

(p.s. Bruce does have a point, however, and my only response, to borrow the

words of my high school coach, is to " do as I say, not as I do. " )
