Guest guest
Hi Casey, I think that's a great post you wrote and if I may I'd like to add something to that as well. I joined to talk to my friends, I have no desire to add people I don't know. I have a good head on my shoulders plus I am 26 so I am not exactly the prime target for many pervs out there (did have this one older man tell me I was his dream and he'd move by me, I told him exactly where he could take his dream). However, I have seen a few teen lp girls on myspace who are dressed very provocative, I e-mailed one of them just to let them know the image they are putting out there and who they attract. Her attitude was basically " ya I can handle myself " , no teen girl goes out looking to get hurt but it happens. Unfortunately dressing like one has no self-respect is in vogue but there is a real danger out there. To all of you parents out there, the predator isn't necessarily the stranger in a car anymore, it's the stranger on the net who tells your daughter EXACTLY what she wants to hear. Parents, please get a clue when it comes to the internet! Ask to see what sites they are on, go check out their myspace profiles AND pictures, keep your computer where you can walk by and see it. My younger cousin is on myspace and I've had a few talks with her and told her the danger of putting her city on there plus what high school she goes to. I told her that her friends already knew that info. I feel bad for that teen girl I mentioned before, I feel bad because she doesn't get it, to her she has her whole life to live and it's all good, she is also sending out a bad image of herself. I feel bad for her because her parents are very clueless. I was a teen girl once who also thought nothing bad would happen to me and that I knew everything. Now being older I realized I didn't know jack. I sometimes think teens need MORE input and guidance from their parents than when they were kids. The net isn't a right for teens, it's a priviledge. Parent's please wise up! " We've seen, across the country, people we consider internet predators using Myspace and other accounts like that to try and find and locate kids and groom the kids into a relationship,” said FBI agent Kiernan. " " One law enforcement officials calls the teen chat rooms " meat markets, " for the young. " " And some of the websites by Utah teens appear provocative. Experts say the language and photos young girls are posting on their website is an invitation for disaster.
