YMCA vs. Easter Seals

Hello all,

I posted this to the lphealth listserve but I thought I'd post it

here too. Aside from job hunting I am also trying to find a place

where I can work out. I am having a very hard time right now with

my arthritis and have had physical therapy already. My phy

therapists agreed the pool is the best thing for me. Well I ordered

a brochure from the Y and got it today. They offer alot, but not for

me persay. The only programs that would seem to be gentle on the

ole dwarf bones are the senior programs. There are yoga and pilates

programs but I am not firmiliar with those or if I could do those.

Aside from lack of programs they cost is extremely high. $100 to

join then $50 a month plus the fees for the programs you want to do.

I wish I was made out of money. I thought well I'll look at the

Easter Seals site and what they have to offer. They have great

programs but not for working out, all they really have are phy

therapy and occupational therapy. Well no good, I did that already.

So basically I feel very stuck. I feel I am too disabled for the Y

programs but not disabled enough for the Easter Seals program.

Please keep in mind that I am pseudo and basically I am not as

physically adept like those with achondroplasia. Any advice from

anyone would be awesome!

:)

P.S when I was 14 I did go to an Easter Seal summer camp and it was

really a cool experience, if anyone was looking for a camp for their

kids.
